Da champ Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 Well now... thought this might be the year.
4chs Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 The final score was actually 15-6. Any word on the extent of Barger's injury? It almost got real ugly in the stands after that incident.

4chs Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 So what happened on the play? I really don't know except that it was apparently away from the play. I was listening to the Knox radio announcers and they didn't seem to know either. They said something about Knox fans getting tossed and the State Police being involved.:idunno:
Commander 25 Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 Well I was at the game I didn't see anything happen on the play. Barger seemed to get hurt a few plays before he went down. According to one of the guys running the chains he caught a pass landed on the ball and got the breath knocked out of him. When Barger went down. It was running play he was hit in the chest down the field. Knox Central has a good football team and it was a great game. Congrats to the Bobcats
Hasbeen Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 Until I can speak with those involved my only comments are that for 3 quarters this was a classic, like watching two heavyweight fighters go toe to toe. It's a shame it deteriorated into what it became after the Barger injury. I was at the game but like most others, my eyes were fixed on the play at the line of scrimmage and Barger's injury happened some fifteen yards downfield. I hope the game film was shot at a wide enough angle to show what really happened and we can put all the accusations and speculation behind us. I will say that someone needs to closely evaluate this officiating crew. I've seen them many times and some degree of what occurred last night is not uncommon at all.
Hasbeen Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 The final score was actually 15-6. This. Not that it matters.
4chs Posted September 21, 2014 Posted September 21, 2014 A few quotes from Knox Central Head Coach Scott Russell that were in today's Times Tribune. "It was a cheap shot on Matthew Barger. He was a defenseless player 20 yards from the ball. Some teams try to do stuff like that." He had this to say about the penalty differential, "I'm not one to make excuses for my team, but when the penalties are that one sided, it's hard to believe. I know they did not play that perfect of a game and that we did not play that unsound of a game."

There were a lot of penalties on Knox and there could have been a lot more. I am sure there could have been some on Bell that weren't called. Knox was piling on after the whistle several times that weren't flagged. Sometimes teams commit more penalties in games.
