I think it is a problem across the state. Why pay to watch high school basketball when you can watch college games at home. Most schools struggle to create an environment of school spirit. We live in a society where it is easier to criticize the other team and complain about your team or coach instead of just showing support for the kids and coaches who are giving their all! Think about adults that attend games, most of them spend their time complaining about the coaches, players and refs! Instead of just being supportive and cheering for their team!!

There our a couple good points in there Jaws. However, i do not think it is fair to count 09-10 season as Kinmon left at Christmas Break with a winning record (5-4). It is not his fault administration made him quit in middle of season and they went 5-12 with him not at the helm. So let's count the last 6 years of his 10 full seasons. You are correct 5 of the 6 seasons were losing records. However, he played tougher competition and did make the regional tournament 3 of those 6 seasons. It is people like you and BGCat that don't get it. I personally know Kinmon and he always said Players win games and Coaches lose them. He always took responsibility for the losses and always gave praise to the players win they won! I hope Coach Hicks stands up as strong for GCHS as Coach Kinmon tried to do.

Every coach has had a few players quit at some point. I don't know all the details, but am close enough to know some things about the program. Wasn't quite sure what Sweetlucy was talking about. I won't deny that the kids played hard! The players on this team are small, but have a ton of heart. Just becaused i asked a few questions, don't think i am not supportive of the players or coaches. I will applaud the kids on this team just like i would any kid who plays hard night in and night out. Just asked a few questions about the overall state of the program. It just bothers me how everyone wants to make excuses and blame it on Coach Kinmon.

I forgot to mention that the youth league season has been cut in half. Is that developing players in your feeder program??? Of course, i am not sure that is really Coach Hicks' responsibility. I think the community should step up and take this on. When was the last time you watched a middle school game, 2 of the 3 coaches are terrible!

First off, I have no problem with Coach Hicks and his staff. I think they are doing a fine job. What i don't understand is how so many people have turned on Coach Kinmon and don't realize what he did while coaching there. Your comment about no discipline. Kinmon suspended 2 starters for the District Tournament in 2007 for being late to school. He had discipline. What are the outside influences you are talking about? Young players have stepped up. Carr, Johnson, and Cummins are all going to be good players, but 3 years ago everyone thought the same thing about Kinmon and Hunt when they started as Sophomores. What do you mean get on board or go somewhere else????

Deters needs to do his job and quit being so critical of Coach Steiner and Coach Marksberry. He sounds like nothing more than a disgruntled parent!

HS basketball is made to be played in HS gyms! There should only be one tournament not played in HS gyms and that is the state tournament. I am sure BOK is nice and they do a pretty good job, but it is not the same. BOK is an athletic facility. I want my HS games in a gym!!! Call me oldschool i guess.

Just 3 years ago the program was in good shape before Kinmon left. The varsity had won 19 games and got beat in District Finals by Simon Kenton by 2 pts. They lost in OT in region to Owen Co.. The JV had an above .500 record and the Freshman Team went 17-3. Those Freshman are now the Seniors! What has happened to make you think they shouldn't have won 10 games?

Good luck to Coach Duvall and the Rebels. They will have their hands full with Oldham County. It will be a close game though.

This is a very good point CincySPortsFan. Simon Kenton didn't bring a very good crowd either. Besides Grant Co. has not had a very good year and their fans are a little fickle.

This is why you play the games. You never know what might happen!

Nice win for the Indians. I would say the best team won is this game. I wasn't impressed with Pendleton when i watched them this year.
