  1. Glad to see Barton back, he will be a big help going forward.
  2. I was told by someone who works in the Middlesboro system that they will probably drop out of district play if they remain in the same district.
  3. I hope that Middlesboro gets to move down to 1A as that should help them to rebuild their program. They cannot compete with the teams that are currently in their district(Danville, Somerset and LCA).
  4. Your model shows 6 teams in Class 4A District 8 - Clay County, Corbin, Harlan County, Knox Central, Letcher County Central, Perry County Central, but looking at the other districts, I'm not sure they can avoid putting 6 in this one. I suppose you could move Corbin to District 7, although that would put 6 in that district then.
  5. Who will be in Corbin's district?
  6. It's going to be interesting to see how that situation works out. He could be the missing piece, then again, maybe not.
  7. The game was close throughout and Corbin was fortunate to get the win. Clay Co. is very young, but they may be the team to beat in the 13th Region in a couple of years. Corbin looks good when their jumpshots are falling and not so good when they are not. They may tend to settle for a few too many(shot 28 threes against Knox Central and hit only 7), but they do not really have any physical presence on the inside.
  8. After Knox Central, the next 4(Corbin, Harlan Co., South & North Laurel) could be shuffled without much argument. I believe Bell Co. is too high and would put Clay Co. and maybe a couple of others above them. It's going to be an interesting year in the 13th Region.
  9. Maybe I was the one confused. The same player was involved in both altercations, although someone said the first one was called a flagrant foul and not a technical. I thought a flagrant was a technical though, but I'm not to up to date on high school rules compared to collegiate rules. It was an ugly game that was really not much fun to watch in my opinion.
  10. I believe that was a part of Knox Central's game plan to try and take Taylor out of his game. That double technical was a huge play in the game. Knox Central is the better team at this point and were much more physical in the paint, which Corbin will struggle with this year. On a side note, I thought that 2 technical fouls on a player meant an ejection, but a player for Knox received 2 and continued playing. Also, what is the rule for kids leaving the bench and coming on the floor during an altercation?
  11. Taylor and Faulkner put on quite a show last night, but Corbin's supporting cast looked to be better than Mercer's. When Taylor is hitting the 3 ball, he is virtually unstoppable unless you double or triple team him, then his teammates, especially Stewart and Sanders, are capable of hurting you as well.
  12. I have noticed the same thing.
  13. Already got your excuses ready I see.:lol2: Wonder how they did so well against elite competition in Florida?
  14. What I liked on Wednesday at the City of Palms | HoopSeen Here is a story from day 1 of the tourney.
  15. Taylor shot 66.7% from the field and 88% from the FT line, scored 37 points. 13 rebounds and 7 assists. He signed D1, the only player in the 13th Region to be offered in this class I believe.
  16. I think Knox Central is top 15 anyway, possibly top 10. Corbin is ranked a little high in my opinion. Teams with some size are going to cause them all kinds of problems.
  17. I didn't really have any problem with the officiating in the game. There were so many close plays such as these that it's understandable that some are going to be missed in real time and that one side or the other is going to feel slighted. On most of those plays, Boyle Co. was playing aggressively and trying to make plays, which is the way they played the entire game and a big factor in why they won convincingly. Boyle's OL hurt Corbin a whole lot more than any calls that may have went the other way. I was very surprised how easily they made it look controlling the line of scrimmage.
  18. How did Alex Bryley play? Don't they have someone else out?
  19. Should be the 13th Region final as well if the draw works out right.
  20. I never was sure about that catch/fumble being a TD. I was on the other side of the field and they never showed a replay at the stadium. Look at the replay and let me know what you think on the Estep pass early in the 4th quarter that sure looked like a pass interference on the Corbin side of the field. Also, there was what appeared to be an obvious pass interference down inside the 10, which was also along the Boyle sideline(all 4 plays I have heard our fans griping about were on the Boyle sideline) when Corbin turned it over on downs. I'm just wondering what someone from the opposing side thought about those no calls.
  21. I'm not sure that the Danville player got a foot down inbounds, so it appears that it should have either been an INT or offensive pass interference. How far away was the official who signaled TD away from the play?
  22. Good win for the Hounds at the Nissin Classic.
  23. There were a lot of calls that were really bang-bang though where one team or the other was going to be mad. The Corbin paper had a pretty good picture of one of the no calls that a lot of Corbin fans were upset about. It probably saved a 75 yard TD pass from Estep to #5 when the Boyle defender grabbed his arm which prevented him from catching the pass, which was a really smart play by the defender. I never really saw much of anything the entire game to warrant the personal fouls they were calling.
