The 14th isn't a huge surprise as the population has continued to dwindle over time, but the area is so rural that there are still many small schools in operation. I've always been surprised by the 1st. I know it is rural, too, but you have a traditional power in Paducah Tilghman, several large county schools that have had really good teams over the years, yet no winners. I'm not saying they should have won a bunch but they seem the least likely of the four on this list.

There was some chatter at the last BOC meeting about possibly moving the RPI part of the bracket up to the second round. No clue if it happens but it does seem like they might be trying to remedy a heavy side/weak side bracket.

Schools have a time period to respond to the alignment. I wonder if districts (classes?) will be adjusted following the allotted response time?

In one of the documents in the Board of Control agenda today shows 36 teams in 1A, 38 in 2A and 3A, 39 in 4A and 5A, and 32 in 6A. My guess is they’re hoping to avoid those playoff dropouts like you mentioned.

This looks great! I believe these two were playing in the old end-of-season Rec Bowl at Mount Sterling High School. Any idea when teams moved away from long sleeve jerseys? I only go back to the 1980s and don't remember them.

I believe Genton is from Lincoln County, correct? Played for Larry Phillips at Lincoln and Phillips later went on to an administrative role at Trimble County, which I assume is what pulled Genton in that direction. Like you mentioned, I think he also had a brief stint in administration at Jenkins before returning to Trimble.

The amount of people online worked up about this is wild to me. He’s was the third or fourth best player on a team that nobody enjoyed watching go 22-14. Do I trust Pope can find someone better? Not sure. But for people to act like the whole world is collapsing because a moderate shooter who can’t guard a chair is leaving is unreal to me.

I doubt Jasper will ever start at point guard anywhere and especially not backup at Kentucky. If he's back, that's fine, the same with Lowe. But if Pope is counting on Lowe next year then he has to go get a legitimate point guard to give valuable minutes. He can't wing it with the likes of shooting guards such as Aberdeen and Johnson and hope it works. It doesn't.
