  1. Is it just me or does it seem like half the seniors in the state are going to one of these 2 schools?
  2. Slusher may do well there, but you obviously know nothing about Auburn if you think it is a class program. It has a long history of scandal.
  3. Whitaker has been at Christian 6 years, so if you go back 6 years prior to Whitakers arrival here are the results. Dan Gobel's last 6 years (95-2000) record was 21-42 with no winning seasons, won no playoff games, and was 3-17 his last 2 seasons. Whitakers record in his 6 years at Christian is 47-25, won 6 playoff games and has made it to the region final twice. A lot of people say he has underachieved and maybe with a couple of teams his teams he has. But a case could be made that he has overachieved considering what the program achieved the 6 years prior to his arrival.
  4. Owensboro has as much if not more than anyone in West Ky. Top 5 in no particular order: Owensboro Bowling Green Paducah Tilghman Hopkinsville Christian Co Next 5 Warren Central Mayfield Henderson Apollo Franklin Simpson
  5. Good schedule for Hopkinsville. I predict 7-3 with losses to Christian, Highlands, and Owensboro. Surprised to not see Paducah Tilghman on the schedule.
  6. The tee is used for kickoffs only. FG and PAT's are not allowed to use any tee. Rule 6 Article 10d specifically states : "Any device or material used to mark the spot of the place kick or elevate the ball makes the kick illegal". The point is very "mute".
  7. "When we got to the 40-yard line this year, we were in scoring position," Rodenberg said. "You don't have to do anything stupid on third and 10 or take unnecessary chances. I'm watching these bowl games and watching them line up to punt in those situations. In that position, I was lining up for a field goal." Popham obviously has a big leg. But the reason it is an easy decision to attempt a 40 plus yard field goal every time and not punt isn't because Popham was extremely accurate from outside of 40 yards. It's because in high school football any missed FG that goes into the endzone is a touchback and not back to the original line of scrimmage like in the college football. Not to mention college kickers must kick everything off the ground and do not get the benefit of a tee.
  8. You can't play it in April because of baseball and track. It is June or nothing for the All-Star game IMO.
  9. Trevor Hoskins QB Middlesboro EKU Casey Tinius K/P Bowling Green WKU Clark Jeter WR Henry Clay WKU Paul Millay OL Owensboro Cath WKU Tristan Jones DE Clark Co. WKU Wes Jeffries OL Warren Central WKU
  10. Not sure how offensive lineman James Sheppard of Christian Co., a Purdue committ, is not on the list. A lot of folks can complain and not everyone can make the team, but a Big 10 commit should have made the team IMO.
  11. Wright left the best job in Indiana for a $100,000 a year high school job at an Oklahoma power. He resigns the job after less than a year on the job. This newsworthy because of his short tenure at Trinity and the CJ is also considered a southern Indiana paper.
  12. On any given year Taylor, Casey Wayne, and Garrard will give Somerset all they want. Those teams may not be Corbin / Middlesboro, but they'll give the Jumpers all they want.
  13. St X, Trinity, and Male should hope they keep the playoff format the way it is. That is who you have to beat to win a state title whether it is the 2nd round, 3rd round or the championship game. If you play in the second or third round you get to keep the gate money and not the KHSAA!
  14. Any team that loses 47-0 to St X and gives up 56 to the state champs when neither BG nor JC gave up that many would not beat either of them 3 or 4 TD's.
  15. Not sure why so many have Johnson Central rated so highly when they were beaten worse than Highlands, Lex Cath, and BG by Cov Cath. 1 Cov Cath - The best team in 3A. 2 Lex Cath - Lost to Cov Cath in a shootout 56-49 3 Highlands - Lost twice to Cov Cath. One was close, the other was by 10 4 Bowling Green - Lost to Cov Cath by 19 in State Championship 5 Johnson Central - Lost to Cov Cath by 24 on their home field.
  16. If Cov Cath doesn't win, can the Eagles claim prominace over all of greater Cincinnati prep football? Since the Colonels have played all those tough, fast, physical teams from Cincy.
  17. The test of time determines that, not one season. How long have they played football at JC? 30+ years? Goodluck to the Eagles against Cov Cath.
  18. Johnson Central is a good story, but I don't think this one is close. Cov Cath 45 John Cen 14
  19. Any basketball coach that does this should be fired immediately.
  20. Somewhat of a combination. This game will be close as are all the games in the BG / Hopkinsville series. The Tigers have an outstanding talent in Emmanuel Taylor. In the end, I believe BG will be too much for Hopkinsville and come out on top 28-14.
  21. It's the playoffs. It is Graves job to stop Warren Central from scoring, not Warren Centrals.
  22. BIG 1 Bowling Green 2 Owensboro 3 Warren Central 4 Christian Co 5 Henderson 6 Graves Co 7 Warren East 8 Marshall Co 9 Paducah Tilghman 10 Apollo Small 1 Mayfield 2 Caldwell 3 Ft. Campbell 4 Trigg Co 5 Monroe Co 6 Owensboro Cath 7 Metcalf Co 8 Mclean Co 9 Russellville 10 Lone Oak
  23. Hopkinsville has the power back and power running game and Tilghman isn't known for their offensive line prowess. I'm shocked Tilghman won, as one would have thought the Tigers would handle the weather conditions better. Congrats to the Tornado!
  24. The 2 games Warren Central has lost has been because their pass defense is poor. They have a pretty tough run defense. I predict a Christian Co victory due to the Colonels having a pretty good passing game with Tandy and Co. Christian 34 Warren Central 21 others: Owensboro 21 Apollo 6 Marshall 31 Graves 14 Hopkinsville 28 Tilghman 14 Trigg 21 Lone Oak 7
