KY - TN ALL STAR GAME

How are the players picked for this game? Who is the coach for 2K7? Thanks for any info on this topic.

I think Joey Downs of Bardstown is the head coach this year. I want to defer to someone else on the selection of the players. Anyone?

FYI, Tennessee is wanting to have this game moved from June to December starting in 2008. Apparently they feel that many of their best players miss out on the game due to the fact that they have already left to start preparing for their college careers.

Isn't there a committee of coaches around the state that get together, review film and take input from coaches in each region before making the final selections?

The same happens with Kentucky, too. I'd hate to see what kind of weather the game would be played in during December. Brrr ...

Some Coaches in Clarksville, TN have mentioned this to me as well. My response to them was the June date wasn't an issue until KY started winning some of these games.

I understand their issue. Instead of June why not in the spring? Say around March or April? December is WAY to cold to be having a All-Star Game.

I would tend to agree with them. I do although think that April would be a good time for the game.

Mr. Football is automatically on the team. Coaches throughout the state vote on one QB that was nominated by the QB's coach. Two players from each of the 4 football regions are voted on by the coaches in that region. Ten players are elected to the team through this process. The other 30 players are selected by a committee of coaches throughout the state along with the head coach of the all star team Joey Downs of Bardstown.

AP? Courier Journal? BGP? Does the Herald Leader put one out?

Well I think some will be on both AP and CJ. Maybe see if CJ and the AP can decide who to be on the team????

I like the game played in the summer it allows more kids to participate, sometime big time athletes such as the ones in this game are playing baseball or running track in the spring, I see summer as the only option.

Not unless you want to lose the game every year.
