How good is a football class with 32-34 teams? :banana:

Boys have always been much more organized than girls, but girls did have at least a JV regional until a few years ago. May have had frosh regional too, I just don't remember. Seems like it might be a nice fund raiser if someone was willing to take time to organize.

I realize I am attempting to hijack a thread, but I would request some leniency here.

You seem to worry an awfully lot about students at Highlands, Cov. Cath, NDA, etc. who are out of district. Just curious for NCC would St. Joes Cold Spring be considered "in district" or "out of district"??? :banana:

Historically you haven't wanted to talk much about the "out of district" students on the hill dennis12b, but if you want to go there, I am game. :lol:

I do not know if the "connection" had anything to do with it and my guess is neither do you. What I do know is that D1 programs have 85 scholarships, which may sound like a lot, but we know that when schools are penalized and lose just a few it can have a significant impact; therefore, to think that a school would give a kid a scholarship based upon a personal relationship is a little hard for me to believe and doesn't make rational sense. Furthermore my guess is that at that level all full scholarships are determined by the head coach or by consensus of the staff, rather than allow a rogue assistant offering money to those he has personal ties to. Whether Austin plays QB or some other position in college, the school is getting a very good athlete, with excellent size, from a good family.

Spoken like someone who has a kid who is in the bottom 1/3 of their teams roster. There is no soccer team that I am aware of that has the depth to go very deep on their bench. Even Cov. Cath only played 12 against Trinity.

They beat Highlands? I don't remember that.

At what age did Hannah quit playing soccer, I thought she was a pretty darn good soccer player as a young girl.

Good stuff. Thanks GNGsports. I have always thought that Scott County and Highlands given the distance between the two just made sense. I would also think that Scott County and Lex. Cath. makes sense as well.

Maybe, but we don't have to look too far in the distant past where he had pretty good teams and was still paying Harrison County and Seneca to come to Georgetown for annual beat downs. This is quite an about face.

GNGsports: Obviously Scott County and McKee have really stepped up their schedule. I have poked fun at some of McKee's schedules over the years. Any idea why the change?

Very sorry to hear about the Darlington's injury. Injuries always stink, but missing much if not all of your senior year is awful. Really feel for the kid. Our senior year one of my best friends tore his ACL in the first game and it cost him all of football, all of basketball and much of baseball (I think he got to play a few baseball games towards the end of the season).

Just to correct all the misinformation in this thread - and there is a lot to correct. - I am MUCH taller than Gametime - Chest hair is real - I never realized what a good looking dude Jimbo was. - I only claim that I know slightly less than Ted from Villa Hills (and a lot more than uk#1fan). - I am very very slow when I run now (I was always slow, but I have slowed down more) - JMG is my son. - That is my cousin (a proud SK pioneer and a very physical soccer player) in the picture not my wife

Although there are many Highlands traditions, one of my favorites is when the boys wear their little league jerseys for pregame on Thursdays before game day.

All I did was restate what Beechwoodfan said, but I wouldn't like the way it comes across either. How about a little history lesson? Back when the girls soccer team was getting started those trying to stop it routinely pointed to the interest survey, how it was conducted, and how few kids in the school actually wanted to play. Pretty amazing how since inception, numbers were never an issue despite lack of interest being the battle cry of those fighting it. Fast forward to the boys program getting started and the issues being used by those opposed to it are identical. I guess we will see soon enough if the lack of interest is an issue on the boys side. Beechwood obviously has facility challenges, but schools and communities that care about kids find ways to overcome them. Finally if there are people who hate Beechwood football, maybe they have a good reason to (other than their jealousy of Beechwood's annual state semi-finalist appearances in football). :banana:
