NKY Power Players

Featured Replies

Besides Morgan Hentz, what other players are making an impact on the season for their teams this year?

Usual suspects would include:

Bush

Smith

McDonald

Tapp

and somebody at Beechwood must be doing something right (Ogle?)

but I haven't seen them play this year

I have seen NDA and I would add

Salkowski

Talkers

I'd add some of Morgan's NDA teammates. Hannah Talkers and Madison Salkowski. Scott's Tapp and Franxman

Beechwood's Pawsat and Ogle

Ryle's Bush and Legg

The term "power player" can mean a lot of things. I assume you mean the best players, not the hardest hitters. Volleyball is so much more than hitting.

ND: Hentz, Salkowski, Talkers. Plus Colvin and Saelinger for back row and serving. They would be on everyone's list if they played at a different school.

NCC: McDonald

Cooper: Smith

Beechwood: Pawsat, Ogle

Ryle: Bush, Barber, Legg

Scott: Franxman and Tapp

St. Henry: ?

There's probably some ND JV players that should be on this list too. I'm betting ND's JV would defeat most Varsity teams in the state.

Tobler for ST. Henry

Knaley for NDA

worth considering

Talkers from NDA is probably the most underrated player in the region. Her on court IQ is off the charts.

At what age did Hannah quit playing soccer, I thought she was a pretty darn good soccer player as a young girl.

From what I've seen so far in addition to what has been posted...

Julia Popova at Beechwood

Grace Isaacs at Campbell Co.

Alli Borders at Boone Co.

Cali Helinski and Dee Atwood at Conner

Just wondering what players to watch for besides the obvious when playing different teams. Notre Dame has a court full but who else should be on the radar (not just hitters) in everyone's opinion?

The exact same thing can be said about Borders from Boone County. She has been the starting setter and an impact player for four solid years. Hits well with both hands too.

Scott's defensive players deserve some credit too without them Tapp wouldn't be able to hit as well. I think this can be seen at Dixie with Perrin Long and Leah Metzger who are both stong hitters but they don't seem to be able to make the big play because the defense and setting is inconsistent.

I totally agree about our defense and setting, though we are starting to make some strides there. Last night Dixie played Ryle and our passing was much better, which led to a 25-20, 25-17, 25-15 defeat that was much closer than the score for most of the games. Ryle seems to struggle from chemistry issues IMO right now, they have all the pieces but they aren't playing well together. Metzger and Long could start for just about any team in NKY IMO.

I really liked Borders from Boone Co. when we played them, which is why I added her to the list. :)

I can see that. It's hard to have Rachel McDonald be doing so well without her.
