Girls JV or Freshmen Regional Soccer Tournaments?

Featured Replies

The boys have a freshmen and JV regional tournament so why don't the girls?

Is this something that a particular school or schools coordinate for the boys or is it up to the coaches to coordinate something like this?

Being relatively new to the area, I was just wondering if someone could shed some light on this topic.

Boys have always been much more organized than girls, but girls did have at least a JV regional until a few years ago. May have had frosh regional too, I just don't remember. Seems like it might be a nice fund raiser if someone was willing to take time to organize.

Girls coaches association has no interest. I think part of it is the high turnover lately of girl coaches. My thought would be to have a jv1 and jv2 tournament so that the small schools could compete against the big schools freshman teams and the real jv teams could compete.

There was a Freshman tournamet approximately 8 or 9 years ago. Bishop Brossart hosted the first one and SK hosted the second tournament. Not sure exactly why it fell apart.

The JV tournament fell apart 3 years ago. The last few years it was played at Town & Country. It was nice it was in one location, but the fields being smaller was a negative.

I can only speak for Softball, but JV & Frosh Tournaments are all up to the Coaches Association to organize.

I think it's the right thing to do for these girls at this level.

The boys coaches association is much stronger, more organized, and work hard to put on the freshman and JV regionals. From my understanding there is no coordination nation between public and private school coaches within girls association. The only way tournaments work is if all schools participate.

So, is the coaches association just the varsity head coaches or are the JV & freshmen coaches also members?

I don't understand this part.....care to explain.

I believe the association is made up of all varsity boys coaches. They must pay a small membership due, and the association provides the freshman tournament, varsity tournament, all region team, and a end of year banquet for the players nominated to the all region team. I believe the association gained its strength and structure from the old Cov Cath coach who built it up in the late 1990's

A good friend of mine has been coaching girls soccer for years. He told me the public school coaches has one agenda, and the private school coaches have other agendas. This he said makes having a strong association an issue

Would love to hear what these "agendas" are.

Sad that you have grown adults acting like a bunch of babies......if this is the case.

Don't know what agendas are, months really care enough. My friend stop coaching, so I really have no in any longer, but my understanding is the girls really have no coaches association at this time, and pretty much haven't for a few years.

Too bad that there's no JV tournament. Dixie's JV team is pretty good. They're 7-3-4 with losses to NDA, SK and Highlands.

Henry Clay JV takes title in JV Championships ...beating West Jessamine 1-0 in Semi-Finals on Saturday, before handling Lexington Catholic easily 3-0 for the Championship. The Blue Devils JV squad has only two losses during the past two years. Compiling a 31-2 over he time period... both losses came this season and each was avenged with during later efforts in the season (Tates Ck and Lexington Catholic).

Tates Creek won the middle school division against Dunbar earlier during the afternoon
