Trinity alum

Nothing to fix. A couple of kids walked toward the exit when the fans rushed the court. The coaches stopped them and made them wait. When it became obvious that there wouldn't be anyone to shake hands with, the whole team left. Not a big deal.

I dislike X as much as anyone, but I wouldn't call them worms. Worms serve a lot of usefull purposes.

For them it was. And it was as close as they will get. Congratulations to them. They played hard and our guys made a lot of sloppy passes. Don't look for a repeat if they meet again.

Big day for the Shamrocks. The East squad, coached by Bob Beatty and Andrew Coverdale wins, James Quick scores the winning touchdown and is named MVP and Pete Dawkins, while giving James the MVP trophy, mentions that his grandson is going to Trinity. Not bad.

X will have the trio of backs, but only one of them can carry the ball at a time. The best running back on the field next year will be wearing a Shamrock. Also, the better quarteback will be on the Shamrock side of the field. X has a lot coming back, but I like our chances. The biggest question for me is whether the incoming seniors will grab the leadership roles on the team.

First, congratulations to SC for a great season. Their coaches came in with a great game plan and had their kids primed for the upset. They were helped by three factors that neither team could control, Quick being out, Dawkins being sick and the wind. The wind (and the lack of adjustments to it) took away the medium and deep passes. SC did a great job of defending the short passes. Our guys dug deep at the end of the game and did what they had to do. Special praise goes to Daylen Dawkins. At the end of the game he shook off the illness and played the way we have come to expect. With regard to the SC coaches comments after the game, he is right, BUT. What he is describing is a symptom, not the disease. The real problem is that there are too many schools or school systems that don't do the work to give their kids the coaching, facilities and support needed to achieve. That isn't our fault. It isn't a sign of health when one school dominates most classes, but the problem isn't those schools. The problem lies with everyone else.

I am not an expert on such matters, but it is my understanding that prospective students are not allowed to use the equipment until after they have enrolled (usually March of eigth grade year). I'm not sure when kids start to show up, but I am pretty sure it is after that. If kids come for a tour, I am sure that the training facilities are part of the tour, as are the labs, computer facilities, TV studio, cafeteria, art studios etc. Different kids have different interests. I doubt that any kids are being given "tryouts".

WOW, and you wonder why you have trouble with kids wanting to go somewhere else. What you are saying is that if a family decides to explore its options to decide what is best for them, you no longer want them?

Change that to some students from throughout the area have been invited to come to Open House at Trinity and I'll agree. In fact open house is this Sunday from noon til 5. Come find out what Trinity has for you. After that, schedule a shadow day. There it is. Open, blatant recruiting.

I'll take another viewpoint. If the school has an open house where all eighth graders are invited to tour the school, including the weight room, I don't see a problem.

My best guess is that Coach Beatty will do whatever he thinks he needs to do for his team, regardless of the score. If the starters need reps, they will stay in. If someone is showing a lack of effort, they will be out. If the starters are sharp, with good effort, they will be rested a lot.

Does anyone have the address of the stadium?

I didn't have a problem with it. I also won't have a problem if Coach Beatty decides next year to let the starters work out a few kinks late in the game.

Is the game on TV in Louisvile?

It is a nice article. I notice that he laments the number of paraprofessionals in coaching. Does anyone know of a school that would hire a non teacher as head coach? Hmmm. Controversy in Tigertown?

And repititions. You can't practice game speed. Passing remains Plan D. It is after run left, run right and run middle.

Against Central they were 5 of 12 passing for 6 yards. They rushed 35 times for 226 yards. Seems pretty even to me.

There is an old expression that you get what you pay for. In football, you pay in practice time and repetitions. X seems to spend a lot of time on their run game. Passing, not so much. You don't get a passing game by pulling it off the shelf every few games. I expect this to be a close game. X is much better than they have been the last couple of years. Trinity is not quite as good as last year. Most of the emotional factors favor X. That said, I'll go with 21-10 Trinity.

As someone else pointed out, I think the timing has a lot more to do with the fall open houses and placement test than anything else. I think the timing is bad for Coach Glaser, but good for St X. Given that choice, my guess would be that Coach Glaser would want to do what is best for St X.

Are you nuts? Academics, faith and discipline are the foundations at Trinity. There is no difference between the schools in the emphasis on academics. Trinity educates a much wider spectrum of academic abilities, but all students receive a very demanding academic program.

WOW, Oxnard said something I can agree with. Write this day down. I would also like to point out that it is being taken for granted the Coach Beatty is paid some enormous salary. I don't think there is anyone on this board that knows what he is paid. I suspect it is a lot less than some imagine, but I don't have any idea.

Could you please tell me what there is about going outside for a hire that is "selling your soul"? Any hire, whether a coach, a teacher, an administrator or a maintenance worker should be the best available. Anything less does a disservice to the kids.
