The key word here is “scrimmage”. I agree they looked a little sloppy but that is why you play scrimmages. They kept everything very vanilla and most of the starters were out after the first 2 qtrs. I think you will see a different group of Tigers Friday evening in Corbin.

I agree with GBR. Tigers are absolutely loaded. They have their record setting QB back and 3 potential D1 receivers in Erdman, Cusick and Fryman who can all fly. They also have a great RB in Chase Flaherty and one of the biggest and most athletic lines they have had in many years. If they stay healthy Beechwood will be a really tough out for anyone in 2A.

Looks good to me. I think any of the top 5 teams have a chance to win a championship but BG is definitely the team to beat.

Well for your information Dixie is a pretty good program so if they are on par with Dixie then I think they are pretty good and Beechwood was plenty capable of “handling’ them based on the score of 47-7. And as I said Beechwood started subbing in the 2nd quarter. But I appreciate your expertise on Cincinnati high school football.

Corbin vs. Pikeville will be the undercard on Friday night in Corbin. Beechwood will be the best team in Corbin on Friday night. They just beat Purcell Marion from Cincinnati 47-7 in their scrimmage and took their starters out in the 2nd qtr. PM went 10-3 last year with a tough Cincinnati schedule. It’s going to be very hard to hold Beechwood under 40 this season. They have so much talent in the skill positions and their line is bigger and better. Pulaski should be much better but I think it will be Beechwood by at least 2-3 TDs.

I’m going with FD in a close one.

SK is big every year. They were a lot bigger last year and they still went about .500. If they couldn’t get it done with a kid like Aba Selm then I have a hard time believing they will get it done with Miller, Adkins and Walker. I will be a believer when I see the results. Until then I say SK is about the same as SK was last season.

Harney is a great HS athlete. D1 talent but D3 size. I expect that he will have a great season this year both on the field and on the hardwood.

Birds by 3 TDs

The Verax kid is a great athlete but is much smaller than his brother and doesn’t throw the ball nearly as good as his brother. The biggest problem they have is he is probably their best option running the football but you have to be concerned for him taking hits at his size. I hope they have a good backup QB because they may need one. The Savage kid is a complete stud but much better at LB than at RB but he runs hard and punishes tacklers. I think it could be a tough year for Ryle with the schedule they have.

Pulaski is big up front and will probably try to run the ball on beechwood. They will have to try to control the clock and keep that Beechwood offense off the field because they are very very fast and score with explosive plays early and often. Pulaski is improved but I’m taking the Tigers by 2-3 TDs in this one.

Don’t forget that FD just got the transfer edge from Dayton who is a 4 star top 200 player in the country. He could potentially put a lot of pressure on Bailey.

Yeah let’s baby them and “talk them thru it”. That’s what’s wrong with this generation. Just give them the rules and then hold them accountable. If they don’t follow the rules then give them their punishment. If it happens once remove them from the game until the infraction is corrected if they do it a 2nd time remove them and give the team a unsportsmanlike conduct 15 yard penalty. I guarantee that will stop the insanity. The knee pads are there for one purpose to protect the players. I played football and I can tell you that knee pads did not impact my ability to move.

Gotta give it to the birds. They do things first class and they get their community involved. Looking forward to a great season from the boys up on the hill.

Just wear the pants and knee pads the way they are intended to be worn or get off the field. I am sick of all these kids worrying about their “drip”. Play football and shut up.

SK better hope QBs are not live because Austin Alexander will be licking his chops against those big slow O linemen from SK. Maybe they can work on their lookout blocks this week. That’s where when Alexander runs by them they turn around and yell lookout to the QB.

I think PT has an offensive lineman that is going to be a junior who is in the range of 6’6” 300 lbs that is being heavily recruited by power 5 programs. Can someone confirm?

I’m sure the Ryle fans will figure out some way that they won this one just like they did for the Beechwood scrimmage. I told you they were not very impressive. I knew Highlands would put it on them and they did.

Both theses teams should be really good this season but I say Trinity is definitely the team to beat in 6A this year.

Is the Hampton kid only a junior? I had no idea. WOW! That kid is a absolute beast and only a junior?

I think the Hampton kid from Owensboro belongs on your list. If Brady Atwell duplicates or exceeds last years numbers this season he should be the winner. I also think the Quisenberry kid from Boyle will put up some monster numbers this season. Let the games begin!
