gchs_uk9 Posted August 20, 2024 Posted August 20, 2024 I guess to be the champ you have to beat the champ, but I might have had Owensboro Catholic at #1. No matter who is officially ranked where, this class is very strong at the top. 1

A combination of both Atwell returning (even graduating a few key receivers that offense is built around him) and the coaching change at Mayfield. I don't think its a wide gap, and I don't even know if I'm right, but I think the Aces finally get their first title this year. 1

I am biased but I like my Tigers this year assuming they stay healthy. 1

In their scrimmages, the Tigers offense wasn't as sharp as I expected to see. The defense started slow last year and looked like they were trying to figure it out in the scrimmages. Hopefully the defense starts this year better than the start of last year. I am interested to see if the Tigers jump to another level of efficiency this Friday. 1
GBR Posted August 20, 2024 Posted August 20, 2024 I had a ring side seat for the playoffs last year, and we played, in this order, Murray, LCA, Beechwood, and O Cath. From the information gathered during that run on who would be returning for this season, I think you have to pick Beechwood at the number one spot. Folks they are loaded with talent this year, and I'm talking about playmakers. So this is my little opinion on the preseason rankings… 1. Beechwood 2.Mayfield 3. LCA 4. O Cath 5
Tkinslow Posted August 20, 2024 Posted August 20, 2024 I like Monroe instead of Green as the better team in that district and in turn the ranked team. I’ve heard Monroe has several of those 5th year guys.
Cousin Chris Posted August 20, 2024 Posted August 20, 2024 I agree with GBR. Tigers are absolutely loaded. They have their record setting QB back and 3 potential D1 receivers in Erdman, Cusick and Fryman who can all fly. They also have a great RB in Chase Flaherty and one of the biggest and most athletic lines they have had in many years. If they stay healthy Beechwood will be a really tough out for anyone in 2A. 1

I know they were scrimmages but the Tigers didn't exactly blow anyone away.
Cousin Chris Posted August 20, 2024 Posted August 20, 2024 The key word here is “scrimmage”. I agree they looked a little sloppy but that is why you play scrimmages. They kept everything very vanilla and most of the starters were out after the first 2 qtrs. I think you will see a different group of Tigers Friday evening in Corbin. 2

They have 9/11 starters back on defense. Yes they lose Tutt carrico on defense, but Crowe takes that spot. 2
