  1. Saying the program has failed to meet expectations by getting blown out in the second round each of the last two years isn't a statement that Kevin Wallace isn't a good coach. He is a good coach which makes what has happened all the more baffling.
  2. X's weight room is over 10,000 square feet. What high school in Kentucky has a comparable facility?
  3. St X isn't like "a lot of schools". It has administrative, parent and alumni support and facilities that very few other schools can match. What has happened the last 2 years isn't "good enough". Especially because the last two years the second round losses were not competitive. That all being said, Wallace is a good coach and at times this year and last year the the team performed at an elite level. The inconsistency is part of the frustration. So hopefully Wallace makes the changes necessary to get it fixed. Being more physical and able to run the ball consistently and tackle better would be great starts.
  4. Atherton has a couple of kids with really good speed but they do not have near enough talent to make this competitive. That being said, what they have accomplished is amazing given where that program has been the last 30 years. Its going to take a few more years to get on the level with Bowling Green.
  5. X's lack of physicality isn't for lack of big strong kids who are physical or who could be taught to hit. The same problem was evident at the end of last year. Trinity manhandle X then and Ryle did tonight especially X's o-line. It is maddening to watch. KIds who can hit didn't suddenly stop enrolling at St. X. Teach the kids to line up and hit somebody and drive block..
  6. Poynter is likely out for the year. X didn't close Ryle out last time because it can't the run the ball consistently. Its a baffling problem given the available talent pool. I think X's success in ground game on Offense will determine the outcome.
  7. X had over 70 kids dressed and no one was sick on game night. Bowling Green kicked our butts.
  8. https://www.saintx.com/student-life/live-events This should get you to the live stream
  9. I think the point some are making is St X isn't diversified because they can't run the ball consistently and they didn't give the QB time to throw Friday either. X does not lack big boys with the talent to be really good high school linemen.
  10. If Eastern knowingly sent their only there freshman to play Trinity's JV team who ever made that call at Eastern needs to lose their job. Trinity's JV team would give Eastern's varsity all they could handle.
  11. Playing at the UofL stadium is awesome for the players playing the game. It needs to stay there in the future.
  12. horrible special teams led to Male's points but the game was never in doubt. And there is talent in St X's sophomore class so ease up on the kids as they develop.
  13. It looks like weather could be an issue. Let's hope not and both teams can get a good measure of where they stand at this point in the season.
  14. Mudd has struggled with significant shoulder injuries the last 2 years. He is talented. Given the injuries he still has a D-1 scholarship. He is a lineman.
  15. Not sure this is "X people" talking or just people talking.
  16. North Hardin has been moved to the district with Manual X and PRP according to the CJ
  17. Saying Trinity is in Louisville is an advantage over Boyle and Frederick Douglas seems to gloss over a few things like St X, Male, Manual, Louisville Christian Academy, DeSales, KCD, Central, Atherton, Ballard, PRP, Eastern and all the other schools in Jefferson County. There is an opportunity for good football players to be a part of State championship team a lot of different ways in Louisville.
  18. PRP schedules X and Manual in district and Male and Ballard out of district, although Male was in district for many of Coach William's seasons. That's a pretty tall order to fill each year. Finding a coach winning at his current school who wants to work for an AD who fires the last coach for not consistently winning against that schedule won't be easy.
  19. The students at Atherton kept the hippie movement alive way past 1979. Its a unique place and a very good school. Pretty excited for their football team.
  20. The Phoebus coach's comments trying to explain his actions in the press make his decisions look worse, not better. If you believe him, he had so little character that he "gave in" to a classless act he knew was classless because the kids wanted it. So he made the decision but is blaming the players.
  21. No punishment. Adults need to be able to make responsible decisions for there players. Kids get hurt more often in games when teams are completely out matched. An 0-10 team usually has fewer players and less talented players. Beating their heads in against a #1 seed has real risk to kids whose hearts make promises there rear ends can back up. And as the One seed substitutes fresh kids who want to prove themselves they continue to pound the 0-10 team. Its not a positive any way you cut it. Football isn't basketball or soccer. Getting the heck beat out of you isn't just hyperbole.
  22. If all that will happen is a severe butt kicking and kids getting hurt, I think its a reasonable move to withdraw. The coach stepped down mid season and the program is having severe problems. https://www.falmouthoutlook.com/school-sports/pettit-steps-down-wildcats-football-coach
  23. Given concussions are such an issue, I am surprised the old rule isn't strictly enforced. Not wearing a mouth guard is pretty dumb. In addition to protecting teeth, research shows they also help prevent concussions. Risking an injury and missing 3 weeks in a concussion protocol to look cool is pretty dumb. https://www.ucalgary.ca/news/mouthguards-do-more-just-protecting-teeth-youth-ice-hockey#:~:text=Two styles of mouthguards tested&text=Both protected against concussion%2C reporting, and not the custom dental.
  24. I think it was 2016 when a winless Muhlenberg County team traveled to Louisville to play St X. It was Desmond Ridder's senior year. No one got anything out of that but an uncomfortable 5 hour round trip bus ride and a beat down that could not be avoided. Just about every team making the playoffs leads to these types of games. 15 games and July to December is a lot to ask of high school kids. Shorting the season by shorting the playoff a week would be good. Get it done Thanksgiving weekend
