Ballard could finish second in the district if they sit every one this week who is suspended. If they do that I can't see how they field a team Friday. Trinity fans would be cheering for the lions against the baby gazelle. Don't see the point of it.

Landis is a disaster. He seemed good on conditioning up to spring ball. But the X's and O's are just not there. Looking at his resume I cannot figure out how he was hired. X's AD had a year to find a coach and flubbed it, badly. Landis hasn't been anywhere for more than 4 years in the last 15 years. He was 2-8 last year in Georgia. What screamed "this is our guy'? The senior class has some talent and did improve. There are talented juniors and sophomores who have been playing. Six games in and there has been no improvement. The roster is certainly not one that is so low on talent that being out scored 117 to 13 in 3 games is conceivable. It's not one offensive touchdown in your 4 losses talent. The defense has out scored the offense in the 4 losses. It's not being subjected to multiple running clocks talent. There are kids with talent standing on the sideline. The 4th team quarterback is a 6'4' athlete and fast. No attempt to move him to receiver or DB. The best receiver who is a great athlete and whose Dad is an assistant coach quit after the Owensboro game. How does that happen? Landis focused the preseason press and offense on his kid who has never played a down at X. Just bizarre to happen at St X. Shoptaw was great at Hazard but struggling at X. Why? At camps last summer college coaches loved him. The offensive scheme is just a joke. It's more predictable and less complex than oatmeal. Three quarterbacks have struggled to make it work. It doesn't. The constant penalties show a complete lack of team discipline and coaching. It's just bad football and it's not acceptable. And it's not the kid's fault

When you put a 5'9' guy in man on a 6'7' guy (who is also a gifted athlete) it's not going to go well. X did it all night. X didn't appear to scheme to deal with Driver at all and he did what one would expect from a guy of his talent. The guy is fast, strong and big.

X's receivers get no separation. There is no inventiveness at all.

If guys are suspended Ballard may be fine taking them all next week and ducking Trinity. That will not be much of a game.

If Ballard does have to forfeit does that hurt Trinity in the RPI due to margin of victory? I am wondering how that would work.

The first meaningful snaps Burmester got this year were against Trinity. I'm hoping he gets the start Friday.

Players earn their reputations. And body slamming a much smaller kid should put a player on official's radar. If people are wondering why kids aren't playing football consider how many moms saw that video and decided football isn't safe for their kid. If officials and coaches don't police this stuff football will die.

This may change dramatically in the next 5 weeks. X plays Manual, North Hardin and Madison Central. Trinity will roll through their district including Eastern.

If the players were the same size it wouldn't have happened. Kind of tough to pick up and body slam a guy who is 6'6' 250 like that. It's a lot easier to slam the little guy.

X's OLine should be better this week. If that happens, Burmester starts and Highfield gets some carries in traffic and to spell Yates, X gets the win.

Also X's AD should be worried about a lot of things other than location.

No one thought this would be much of a game and that hurt attendance. If you move it to Lynn fewer people will come. Trinity's AD is right that the neighborhood and parking will keep people away. Especially grandparents and older people or people with little kids.

I think the hard helmet is likely a cause of CTE. There was a study, I think from Wisconsin, of guys who wore leather helmets in the 1950's. No CTE was found. The hard helmet makes the head a weapon to use and doesn't prevent the jostling of the brain from the head collision that actually causes the damage.

Number 71 for Trinity was an impressed lineman on both sides of the ball. Does he play some varsity?

That's one of the reasons he shouldn't get one.
