  1. Mike sure can take the air of a room. He seems to have a strong sense of self importance, to the point it’s insufferable.
  2. Good info. Didn’t realize the season pass was an option. That’s not unreasonable. I guess there’s a lot of variables involved with deciding the best way to broadcast for each school.
  3. Is Covcath the only school that charges for every game? I know some schools are on NFHS which is a monthly subscription and a few like Highlands provide the games online for free. Looks like Covcath charges more for streaming than the price of an actual ticket to the game.
  4. Yes. These uniforms look good. More in line with the traditional uniform. The ones they wore the last 5-6 years prior were the worst looking uniforms they’ve ever had. The writing was so small you could hardly read it. There was no reason to change from what they had worn the prior 25 or so years, but someone thought that changing it was a good idea. Glad to see it’s basically been fixed.
  5. I agree with what Ted was saying too. He didn’t say the QB wasn’t doing well. Just that he misses some open receivers. He’s getting better. I’m sure he approached the season like he was going to play wr. How many QB reps did he get in spring and summer? Did he get any? I doubt it. Did he go to any QB camps? I seriously doubt it. he’s improving and will get better when he works on getting his feet set, ball position, release point. He was just thrown into the fire after the first few guys didn’t get it done against south Warren. As far as the backup QB, Ted just said the other guy throws a nice ball but it hasn’t translated to varsity. It doesn’t mean he should start. Benke still has a big upside passing. The thing that I hope clicks for him, is that when he runs the ball, he realizes he’s bigger than about anyone who’s going to tackle him and he starts delivery the blows instead of anticipating getting hit. .
  6. I saw Covcath vs Camels frosh. Covcath struggled that game too. The Camels aren’t bad, but I don’t believe they’ve won a game yet. There’s 4-5 teams in N. KY better than Covcath’s freshmen this year.
  7. You don’t have to run just to run at the end of practice. You can run and condition in everything you do at practice. Sprint to stations. Sprint thru reps. Sprint on and off the field. Sprint to the line of scrimmage. If you do those things, you need less running at the end. Condition throughout the practice and the team gives that effort during the game too. On the other side of it, we don’t see practice. Maybe they do. It was more hot and humid today than it has been. But there were several players cramping later in the game.
  8. The announcers do a great job and provide an opportunity to see games that many people otherwise wouldn’t. I appreciate what they do. But they don’t know the personnel of either team all that well. Nor should they be expected to. They don’t see the same teams week in and week out, so they miss things here or there. My point is this game wasn’t close. It was closer to being a running clock.
  9. Dale knew what he was doing though.
  10. Highlands didn’t have many starters out there after it was 57-25. There were a couple. If Highlands makes any effort whatsoever to run clock instead of passing after that big lead, the game ends 30 minutes sooner.
  11. Those stats are surprising. The running game has been an issue. Noon needs carries out of the backfield. Or do some read option with him.
  12. I’m not sold on Highlands being top 10 either. The potential is there, but the offensive execution is still bad.
  13. Why the Covcath love? Are they really any good? I don’t think they are. They got destroyed in week 1. Then struggled with Lexcath. Struggled with a Class A team. Finally they beat a bad Dixie team.
  14. It’s a win which has been a struggle for Highlands for years now. I thought Highlands looked sloppy and disinterested. Especially in the 2nd half. The offense needs a lot of work. The defense made the right adjustments after the first series and I never felt like Raceland was much of a threat to score. Raceland put up more of a fight than I thought possible though. I’m not sure who their main competition is in 1A to say whether or not they’re a contender for a 1A title. As for Highlands, I don’t see them as a threat to any of the better teams in 5A right now. Improvement is imperative to contend for the district.
  15. Highlands stopped in 4th and a yard again. The biggest guy on the field stopped twice this half on 4th and 1. Run it up in there like you’re the biggest guy on the field!! Quit dancing.
  16. Interesting. Thanks for the rundown Frank!
  17. What’s going on with Highlands girls soccer? Is it due to coaching change? Philosophy? Has the talent leveled off from where it was for a few years? Tough breaks? Highlands was in the state title conversation for at least 3 straight years. I look at last year’s record and there were many more losses than normal. This year there’s already 5 losses! I will say it looks like a tough schedule, but that’s nothing new.
  18. I watched Raceland’s games vs Russell and Ashland. I’ve seen all 3 of Highlands games. I think Highlands wins by 2-3 TD’s minimum.
  19. If Highlands loses this game, coach should be fired before the sun comes up Saturday morning.
  20. The Birds looked a lot better tonight offensively. The defense still got gashed a few more times than I would’ve liked in the first half. The special teams also looked better. And what a superb job by H kicker with a few fg’s alonh with a couple kickoffs into the end zone. A great kicker can be a weapon.
  21. Beating Highlands is becoming a common thing!
  22. I’m not convinced either team is a plus .500 team on the season. Highlands has never been considered a program that won because they were big & overpowering other teams. They won because they had fast athletes all over the field making plays in the right schemes. There wasn’t a need to have big, overpowering defensive lines. The big slow heavy kids didn’t see the field. The quick athletic defensive lineman were much harder for opposing teams to block and they lived in the backfield. That’s missing on defense.
