I’m not convinced either team is a plus .500 team on the season. Highlands has never been considered a program that won because they were big & overpowering other teams. They won because they had fast athletes all over the field making plays in the right schemes. There wasn’t a need to have big, overpowering defensive lines. The big slow heavy kids didn’t see the field. The quick athletic defensive lineman were much harder for opposing teams to block and they lived in the backfield. That’s missing on defense.

Would Lloyd and Cooper be a tossup?

With all 5 wins coming in the last 7 years. Highlands was 40-75 Pts better than SK from 1998-2014. The comparison between the teams only applies to more recent history since Highlands has fallen off.

Fairly even teams. SK is the better team offensively. It seemed like Benke got a bit more comfortable later in the game. Did he even get any reps at QB before this week? It couldn’t have been many. Highlands can get a lot better on both sides of the ball. And everyone I talked to said Noon has to touch the ball regularly. That much was obvious.

It was a good win. Just win baby! I don’t care what the peoples names are.

Amen! Any Highlands fan not concerned is delusional. You have to have buy in. It looks to me like, the kids aren’t buying whatever the coaching staff is selling. The coaching hire should’ve been someone/anyone homegrown who understood the community and the Highlands football traditions. Call me a skeptic. I know this sounds harsh, but I can’t envision the current staff restoring Highlands football. Great staffs don’t work as long and hard as they supposedly did, and come out looking that bad. Inexcusable!

Taking away any blue tinted glasses, the Highlands team that took the field yesterday, looked like the least prepared team to ever take the field in an opener in Highlands history. That’s coaching imo. You had abysmal special teams, poor tackling, wr’s crossing at similar depths, continual sideways runs, a revolving door at Qb, and zero enthusiasm. There’s several multiple year starters and more than enough talent to not be that bad. The lack of any serious injuries was the only positive I saw to take from that game. This guy isn’t getting it done.
