  1. Perhaps "Incidentally" would have been a better choice of words.
  2. Robbie Graham was benevolent to the Lady Cats. The first quarter 31-0 score is somewhat indicative of their dominance. Our )Brossart) girls have the unenviable task of taking on the Lady Cards, in a re-match of last year's semi-finals contest, won by Brossart.
  3. Bracken County has improved dramatically throughout this season. They play together well, play for purpose, and when they were hitting their threes in the first quarter out-scored our girls 24-17. Brossart rebounded to tie the match at 26-26 and then stalled out, playing ask and answer basketball for much of the remainder of the game. Lady 'Stangs hit their freebies down the stretch to hold off the Lady Bears. Balanced Brossart scoring led by Olivia Lloyd with 12 points , Madison Parker - 10, Bella Rowe - 8, and Molly Kramer - 8. I do not have Bracken County numbers, but was very impressed with Freshman Nicole Archibald and Junior Macie Sharp. The Lady Bears finish 14-11, and I look for them to take another step forward next season.
  4. Diane is a fixture at Scott, working through the Ken Mueller (AD) era, and is always prominent at sporting events conducted on campus at Scott High School. Ironically, she is a member of the 10th Region Hall of Fame.
  5. Per the 10th Region Basketball Tournament Guidelines distributed at the draw meeting Saturday morning. "Price of Admission $7 (plus processing fee). All tickets will be sold electronically on the Campbell County High School GoFan page or GoFan App. (htps://gofan.co/app/school/KY6306). No cash purchase option will be available at the gate. There will be a credit card or phone app purchase option at the gate, however, the most efficient manner of ticket purchase is online or through the phone app in advance. Doors for each game will open 45 minutes prior to the start of the game." Also "All Boys 10th Region Basketball Tournament games will be livestreamed at a cost of $10 per game (Go.PrepSpin.com) Profits from livestreaming the event will be included in the tournament shares. Interestingly, at the 10th Region GIRLS Tournament at Nicholas County, they are accepting GoFan and CASH, but no credit cards.
  6. Actually Campbell County hit 10 threes. Gross - 5, Siry and Hill 2 Each, and Lavonte Parker - 1
  7. Rough night for our guys who failed to hit a 3-pointer, while the Camels hit 9 of them. Campbell pressure limited our ability to get high percentage shots, contributing to the end result. Campbell County had four double-figure scorers - Jake Gross - 21 with five 3s, Garrett Siry 16 with a pair of 3s, Eric Davie 11, ad Aydan Hamilton 10. David Govan was the lne Brossart double-figure scorer with 12. Gross, Davie and Hamilton were named to the All-Tournament Team, as well as David Govan and Mason Sepate from Brossart.
  8. I value your opinion, but after being wrapped up and held, I think he was just pushing him away from him. IF it was a swing, it was certainly provoked, and in the heat of battle.
  9. I will be sure to tell him at practice today not to play so rough. After all at 5'10" - 150 pounds, he has to be careful not to hurt anyone.
  10. These pictures show clearly that our player, #3 Anthony Kruse should have been ejected. 😃
  11. For the first time in nine tries the Brossart Mustangs FINALLY win a close one. Scott had the shot in the air to win it, but not on this night. The Mustangs win 40-38 to advance to Thursday night's 37th District Championship game and next week's 10th Region Tournament. Brossart's David Govan and Mason Sepate lead the Mustangs with 12 each. Anthony Kruse and Brandon Bezold both hit a pair of blue-chip, high pressure, free-throws. Brayden Howell led the Eagles with 16 points, including three 3-pointers. Brossart plays Campbell County Thursday evening at 7pm in the District Championship game with both teams advancing to next week's 10th Region Tournament at Holmes High School. .
  12. Because we don't need a week between games, there is no problem with the present district tournament format. The game that is somewhat insignificant is the district championship game where both teams advance to the regional tournament. However, it carries a title of District Champion, and awards you a district loser in the first round of the regional tournament.
  13. Lady Stangs put together a creditable 18-10 season following the graduation of a quality senior class that included the 10th Region POY Marie Kiefer.
  14. Mustangs drop eighth game within four points and have not won a close one. Sixteen points apiece from Mustangs Brandon Bezold, Mason Sepate, and David Govan. Joel Iles leads all scorers with 20. Kaedon Butts added 13, ad Coby Kramer 11. We are well prepared and positioned for our bout with Scott on Tuesday in the 37th District Semis. Well played JV game goes to the Breds 40-36. NCC dropped nine threes in the prelim game. .
  15. Third straight win for 11-16 Mustangs. Senior David Govan, coming off of a career high 31, scored 20 against the Bourbonites. Junior Mason Sepate was outstanding with 16 points. Mustangs used an 11/13 from two point range, and 3 of 6 from beyond the arc - a 73% clip to establish a 34-17 halftime lead, and never looked back in posting the 60-34 win. Mustangs make up an earlier game with NCC on the Carothers Road Hill Friday night. Bourbon County won the JV game 41-34. Colonel Junior Cain Flynn, scored 15 of his game-high 17 points in the second half. Sam Willike led the Mustangs with 11. .
  16. To date Brossart has had only one losing season (2016-17) since 1992-1993. In 2016-17 NCC was 21-13 and we played them late in the season, so NCC would have had a winning record. I guess you would have to go back prior to 1992-93 when we had quite a few losing seasons to find your answer.
  17. Good outing for our guys who are playing our best basketball of the season. Ryle had no answer for Brossart senior David Govan who scored a career high 31 points tonight. Ryle won the JV game.
  18. BAD SIGN, while the play on the field is vastly improved, the lunatics still run the asylum.
  19. Brossart was 32 of 38 for 84% Holy Cross hit a mere-mortal 9 of 24. BB: Rowe 0-2-2/2-8, Parker 3-0-9/10-15, Kramer 1-2-7/10-15, Macht 1-2-0/0-8, Kaeff 0-0-3/4-3, Lloyd 4-0-8/8-16, Fisher 1-1-3/4-8………….Totals 10-7-32/38-73 HC: McCoy 0-4-0/0-12, Hunt 5-0-1/7-11, Arlinghaus 3-1-7/9-16, Wimzie 1-0-0/1-2, Bottom 0-1-0/0-3, Lehmkuhl 1-0-0/0-2, Robinson 3-3-1/5-16, Williams 2-0-0/2-4……….Totals: 15-9- 9/24-66 ,
  20. Twenty four hours after battling Boone County to overtime, we again found ourselves in a contentious contest with the 10th Region's consensus second ranked Mason County Royals. In a game that saw five ties and six lead changes, the Mustangss led 9-7 after one, and trailed a point at 24-23 at intermission. The homestanding Royals managed a four point advantage, 38-34 after three periods, but we clawed back to tie it up at 43s with just over a minute and a half remaining in the game. Unfortunately, things went south for us in that final segment, as we were outscored 11-2, causing the scoreboard to be unkind to us, in the 54-45 loss. Terrell Henry led all scorers with 19 points for the Royals, and Braylon Hamilton nailed five 3-pointers to contribute 15 points. David Govan and Luke Schumacher countered with 14 and 13 for the Mustangs Mason County broke open a close game late to win the JV event 47-39. Our Mustangs return home for a Senior Day Saturday when Lewis County makes the trek up the AA Highway to Alexandria for a 3:30pm JV game and a 5pm varsity encounter.
  21. My life's ambition is to win the slowest Kentucky Derby ever run.
  22. Mustangs lose sixth game of the season by four points or less. This game saw ten ties and thirteen lead changes. Brossart led by as many as eight points at 35-27 mid third quarter, but could not sustain it. Down two points with .6 seconds left and Brossart 84 feet away from our basket we drew a Boone County dead ball foul, that sent Brandon Bezold to the free-throw line. He hit them both to send the game to OT. In a Cat and Mouse overtime period, the Rebels had the upper hand 4-1. Boone was led by promising Soph Jashaun Pouncy with 22. Thomas Williams scored 12 and Will Raleigh 10. Brossart countered with Junior Brandon Bezold notching a career high 18 points. Mason Sepate added 14 and David Govan 11. Boone improves to 14-11 and the Mustangs fall to 8-15. Boone County romped 56-26 over a shorthanded Brossart JV squad.
  23. A three-way tie for the Number 2, 3 and 4 seeds resulted in a shake that took place Wednesday morning, with Scott receiving the Number 2 seed. Brossart the 3 seed, and Calvary Christian the 4 seed. Campbell County will play Calvary. Brossart will play Scott. I will add the Date/Time when available.
  24. Congrats to the CovLatin Trojans, who won their first varsity game since January 5th, 2019, 53 losses ago. The Trojans were led by Junior Gunnar Brunett who scored 23 points in the win. I'm happy tonight for a senior named Alex Pham. Latin played their Senior Day game at our place (Brossart), and in Pham's Senior comments, he stated that he had enjoyed playing for the Trojans over the past years despite not winning a game. I'm happy for him and the other Latin seniors that they got one before walking down the aisle.
