2021 BluegrassPreps Mr. Football Watchlist (10/6)
I would say top 3: Cam Hergott Joe Humphreys Clint McKee Cam, to me, is the favorite! He is a beast on the stat sheet. You stop Cam, Beechwood does not win but no-one has proven to even come close on that. There may not be a team in 2A that will. Time will tell. I'm not sure how voters will think about putting him back on the podium. Joe has been playing Madden vs rookie mode of late. He seems to be peaking right at the right time for districts & playoffs. Joe seems to be the most natural QB prospect, after Wimsatt's departure, in the bluegrass for the next level. He will have to have success past the second/third round to be a true contender. Clint is a super smart, strong runner with deceptive speed. His numbers could be padded more but Graves is smart to rest their workhorse vs inferior opponents. The further the Eagles advance, the more his chances will grow for the Mr. KY award. 5A playoffs after the first round will be fun to watch.

BluegrassPreps Class 2A Football Rankings 9/27
Mayfield is the exact same team as last year with the exception of their All State LB Jax Rogers (Jr) who was injured the entire year. Now... they are a year older, stronger, and their team speed is better. Qb seems to have improved but still is not as consistent as a title contender should be. He will be tested this week vs Caldwell. The Tigers have the best D-line group they will see until semis. If Cartwright continues to develop, they will have a chance in late November! Murray will challenge their defense. They are improving every week and nobody has been able to stop their triple option offense all season. The downside for Murray is their defense. They have played marginal at best. I'll still take the Cardinals by a couple of TDs and they will be their closest contenders.

Mayfield Therapy Session
I've heard this is his last year... but I sincerely doubt it. He has an impressive Qb that will be a freshman next year and his son is currently in 7th grade and is a really good prospect on the O-line. I would be surprise if he steps down.

Mayfield Therapy Session
They are young! Coles, Barnes, & Galbreath will need to be replaced along a couple of O-linemen. The Cardinals are capable of replacing/reloading and will be in the 2A hunt for the next several years. Most Soph/Jrs are the key to their defense and will continue to grow. I don't think Mayfield has gone anywhere. It just seems like other schools (Beechwood/LCA) are reaping the rewards for their system. I still thing they will be a presence at the end of November.

BluegrassPreps Class 2A Football Rankings 9/20
I have no dog in this fight.... But I do know that Coach Morris calls off the dogs when they are up by 25 or more. No way to check really, but the younger players have gotten a lot of second half playing time in just about every game. Hoptown & Tilghman could very well play for a regional 'ship this year. Graves has a good enough team to get to Semis. McCracken Co is going through their worst season in school history but they have dominated 6A District 1 for a while. The Calloway game happened b/c Coach Champion is a Mayfield guy. Not sure how that stacks up vs Beechwood's competition but I think Mayfield's schedule is solid. Don't get me wrong, I currently place the Tigers over Mayfield at the moment. It will be fun when these two meet in November... if it happens!

Pikeville at Lexington Christian Academy Predictions/Updates
Didn't say they were. Boyle is, again, a strong contender in their class. The Rebels are closest anyone will get to this LCA team until the 'Ship, IMO. LCA did play without Drew Nieves... Moore & company exposed Boyle Co's run defense ?

Pikeville at Lexington Christian Academy Predictions/Updates
Agreed. Madison Central has been a great surprise this season. Being the first game of the season, I don't think anyone expected the game being this close, especially LCA. I think if the game is played now, the margin of victory would be greater. Don't you think? @InsideTrap

Pikeville at Lexington Christian Academy Predictions/Updates
Pikeville does offer, I believe, the best OL LCA has seen. They will have to slow the game down and let their defense rest. McNamee has been solid all year and will have to have his best game of the season this week. I don't think anyone gets close to LCA being one dimensional. Even with all of that, I think the Panthers score once or twice but not much more. Pikeville- 14 LCA- 42

Hopkinsville vs Christian County Predictions/Updates
Hoptown names the score.

Logan County vs. Greenwood Predictions/Updates
I've seen this Logan Co bunch earlier in the year and I was impressed with the culture and atmosphere they are building. I'll take them in a close one. Logan Co- 24 Greenwood- 17

BluegrassPreps Class 2A Football Rankings 9/13
I will play devils advocate here and hope of of the two stumbles... just being a bit greedy! I would love for one of these two teams travel to Western KY in late November so I can get a live view of them. Also, what if they both lose (just a question)?? Would that put Mayfield @ #1, RPI wise, and have these two in the Semis?

BluegrassPreps Class 2A Football Rankings 9/13
Top tier: Beechwood & LCA. A step down: Mayfield. Three steps down: everyone else! Mayfield will need some help. I don't think they can travel 4+ hours and beat either of the top two teams in Semis. Now, if one of them slips and has to travel down to War Memorial... they will have a chance. This week could give us some clarity. Both top teams are in for good battles this week, respectively.

True test this week.

Lexington Catholic at Lexington Christian Academy Predictions/Updates
I'm not sure the actual reason of his absence. Moore is a good athlete but not a QB. Nieves led the state in passing yards last year and was the difference in week 1. Outside of that, I'm not in the know in Lexington. They will need him at QB to be a true contender.

Lexington Catholic at Lexington Christian Academy Predictions/Updates
What's the update on Drew Nieves? Moore is a great athlete and has maintained this team intact. This will be, by far, the biggest obstacle for the Eagles. If Nieves doesn't play, I see a win for Lex Cath on the horizon.

McCracken County at Mayfield Predictions/Updates
I just don't see the Mustangs keeping Mayfield under 28 points. Also, I don't see the Cardinals giving up 21 to McCracken. Mayfield 35 McCracken 14

Paducah Tilghman cancels with South Warren on September 17
Sounds like it was a team wide breakout... Their middle school also is in quarantine ?

Boyle County vs. Henderson County Predictions/Updates
I saw the Henderson Co vs Calloway Co game. I honestly wasn't impressed. A couple of horrible calls that went Hendo's way was the difference. They struggled that night with the Lakers. Also, not playing due to Covid is a negative in my eyes. Boyle Co will have a better showing after being exposed on the ground last week. I'll take the Rebels big. Boyle 35 Henderson 14

BluegrassPreps Class 2A Football Rankings 9/6
I think you are right. Mayfield plays McCracken 6A, Calloway & Madisonville both 4A. Currently, they are 2-7 combined.
