Hart with a pick 6 to take the lead 29-22.

Watching the broadcast the announcers said Hart had 11 accepted flags against them, for over 110 yards in the first half, and I think they had two or three that weren’t accepted. I’d also say Spencer had close to 10 flags themselves. It’s been every other down with a flag.

Hart now leads 21-19, and have looked ugly, but still with a 2 point lead with 1 min left in the half. I’ve also never seen a game with more flags in a half. It’s been brutal for both teams. Hart then gets two more flags against them and allow a 30 yard bomb in triple coverage and Spencer clocks it and kicks a field goal to take the lead 22-21 at the half.

An opening game win is always a good thing, but the Dragons didn’t play there best today. The Dragons had multiple penalties and turnovers in the red zone that killed multiple drives and the defense just wasn’t quite there all day. Offense and defense played really well at times, and then had lapses and just gave up big plays or had missed assignments on offense. This is to be expected in week one, and I expect the Dragons to clean things up as they go along. Houston Hodges is a very good QB, and I expect people to start hearing his name soon. He’s 6-4 and can sling it and is very accurate. He will break every passing record in school history by the time he is done. The running backs and Offensive Line looked great most of the day, and what else can you say about Kelson McKinney, the young man is just a wonderful football player and plays a role in everything the Dragons do. All in all, a good first game, and start the year 1-0.

First off, congrats to Casey County. I didn’t think they would win this one. They fought hard and earned the win. After the Taylor scrimmage and seeing Lincoln against the Dragons, I thought Lincoln were the much better team. That just goes to show you, that’s why you lace them up, and matchups mean everything. I’m gonna go have my big plate of crow now, I’ve earned it after this game.

Green County opens the second half with a 4 plus minute drive and punch it in. Missing the extra point, making the score 26-10.

The Dragons drop a TD at the end of the half. The Dragons should be up 34-10 at this point. That’s two times inside of the 10 they haven’t scored. Garrard has had success attacking the flats and have played tough in the red zone. The Dragons have looked solid, but have also given up some chunk plays and haven’t finished two drives. The Dragons come out of half receiving the football, and that drive will play a big part in how the second half plays out.

Dragons force another 3 and out and have driven inside the ten and have it third and goal, and have called a timeout.

Garrard receives the Kickoff and the Dragons force a 3 and out. The Dragons put together a 7 play drive and score on an 18 yard run by Kelson MCKinney.

I'm pretty Certain anyone from 5-10 could beat each other on any given night, and 1-4 are quite ahead of the rest at this point.

Campbellsville is absolutely loaded. They returned almost everything from a very good team last year, and have one of the best freshman classes I've ever seen at Campbellsville. They are fast at every position and if the line play is even decent, they are going to give any team they play trouble.

Nuke, that's the way I left feeling after watching the Taylor scrimmage. I honestly expected Taylor to win the scrimmage with what Casey lost from last year, but I didn't expect it to be as bad as it was. I think I will chalk it up to a bad night for Casey and they aren't as bad as they looked, and Taylor is much better this year than last year.

I've actually seen both teams in person, and I would say Lincoln looks to be 4-5 TDs better. Casey County may have had a terrible night in the scrimmage with Taylor last night, but the final in that one was 77-0. It was brutal. Give me Lincoln 45-12.

The Dragons make the trip to Lincoln County to play Garrard County in the Death Valley Bowl next Friday, in what should be a solid match up. I'm not all that familiar with Garrard County, but saw they played some very solid teams last year and played most of those teams tough. The Dragons looked solid against Lincoln County this past Friday in the scrimmage, but showed some issues stopping the power run, and don't have a ton of depth up front, so I expect Garrard to pound the football at the Dragons and attempt to control the line of scrimmage and control the tempo of the game, limiting the Dragons offensive possessions. The Dragons will throw the ball much more this year than in years past, and have a very accurate QB in Junior Houston Hodges, and tons of skill guys to get the ball to in space and let them work. Should be a fun ballgame, and Give me the Dragons in a shoot out, 40-35.

Pikeville has dominated this entire scrimmage. Pikeville looks really good, and I would say they are the favorite again for the Class A title. The Bobcats have some nice looking athletes, but haven't done much in this scrimmage.

The Dragons and Lincoln County had a 10am scrimmage today. It was a very good and physical scrimmage, that I think will help both teams. The scrimmage was broken down into two 10 play sections for each team, while ignoring penalties and turnovers, with the Dragons winning 3TD to 2TD for Lincoln. Green County also had a scoop and score during this period I'm not counting as a score. I was really impressed with the Dragons passing attack, as they had some huge chunk plays throwing the football, and Lincoln is a big and physical team, who comes right at you, with some really good play action passes added in, I also doubt the Dragons see a line any bigger than Lincolns the rest of the year. The Lincoln County kids really get after you, which I wasn't surprised by, I expected as much from seeing prior Coach Jagger teams. The next part of the scrimmage was broken down by a full quarter of game like conditions, which the Dragons won by a score of 2TD to 1 TD for Lincoln. The Dragons played well during this period and moved the ball very well, while Lincoln had issues moving the ball like they did during the 10 play section. Green County fumbled inside of there own 20 yard line to set up the Lincoln score during this period. Green County threw the ball better than I've ever seen them throw it, with QB Houston Hodges not missing any throws and having targets all across the field and speed at every skill spot. The Lincoln County QB was also very good, and I expect him to put up some big numbers. I was impressed by both teams, especially with it being the first scrimmage, both were pretty solid being the first game action of the year. I expect both to win some ball games this year, and wish Lincoln County good luck the rest of the way. Great first scrimmage.

I think this is a perfect hire for Anderson. You won't find a better coach to lead and build a program than Coach Buchanan. He brings immediate excitement to the community as a known winner and will get kids out to play for his program. Excited to see what he can do for the Anderson County Program. Congrats Chief.

Green played Larue within 8. They were down just 3 with 3 minutes to go. It was a much closer game than the final score indicated. Larue is a very good team and played the way you expect the favorite to play down the stretch. I expect it to be a very fun and wide open region. Green Could pull an upset depending on the draw and I wouldn’t be surprised in the least. If they can stay away from Central/E-town in round one, I think they could beat any of the other teams left on a good night. Give me E-town/Larue as the favorites with Taylor/Washington/Central just a step back from those two.

I don't think the Dragons can beat Larue, but I think it will be much more competitive than the last meeting. I'd take Larue by about 12 in this game. I'm also not sold on Elizabethtown as the Region champ, Larue just beat Elizabethtown two weeks ago by 9. I believe E-Town is one of 5 teams who have a legitimate chance of winning the region, and wouldn't be surprised to see any of the the five win the region at all.

Green County dominated the Larue County matchup and moves on to the 18th district championship. I think the Hart and Green County game will be a very good game.

What a great game. Back and fourth the entire night with the Dragons taking a lead late and missing some free throws to give Caverna a chance for the win at the buzzer, but the Dragons would hold on and prevail. Great season for Caverna and I expect them to be very good next year. The Dragons will play Larue for the 18th District title Friday night.

Pretty solid schedule for the Dragons. The Dragons were pretty young last year at some major spots, but still had a very solid season overall, but I still have to think it was a semi let down after the previous year. The Dragons also have to replace some good players, none more so than District Player of the year Blake Houchens, who Led the team in rushing yards along with being almost unblock able on the defensive side of the ball and being top 5 in 2a in sacks and forced fumbles. Combine that with the lose of Ferguson and Slinker and the defense lost three of its best players. The Dragons do return a huge amount of the team on offense, to include 4 of 5 starting linemen, TE Kelson Mckinney, QB Houston Hodges, Running backs Julian Seymour and Running back Gage Bale. The Dragons lost the best two receivers on the team in Zach Ferguson and Slinker, but have a very large class of soon to be sophomores who should step into those roles well. The defensive side of the ball is where the Dragons will need to improve tremendously, the Dragons gave up entirely to many large chunk plays and couldn't stop the run at all. The Dragons again lost Slinker, Houchens, Ferguson, Kessler and Corbin on the defensive side of the ball, but again return a very large group of freshman who should fill the void across the defensive front, the secondary is where I expect the Dragons to struggle. All in all, I'm not sure what to expect from this years team, they return enough to be very good, but also lost enough that they could have a major let down this season. Time in the weight room and young men buying in to the system will tell the tale of how this season goes. Should be a fun year in Dragon Country.
