The Dragons make the trip to Lincoln County to play Garrard County in the Death Valley Bowl next Friday, in what should be a solid match up. I'm not all that familiar with Garrard County, but saw they played some very solid teams last year and played most of those teams tough.

The Dragons looked solid against Lincoln County this past Friday in the scrimmage, but showed some issues stopping the power run, and don't have a ton of depth up front, so I expect Garrard to pound the football at the Dragons and attempt to control the line of scrimmage and control the tempo of the game, limiting the Dragons offensive possessions.

The Dragons will throw the ball much more this year than in years past, and have a very accurate QB in Junior Houston Hodges, and tons of skill guys to get the ball to in space and let them work. Should be a fun ballgame, and Give me the Dragons in a shoot out, 40-35.

I look for Garrard to have a breakout year.  Give me the Golden Lions at home.

Garrard has a pretty solid 1-2 punch at RB with Peak being the speed threat and Simmons being the bruiser. Garrard also has a solid coaching staff and is fundamentally sound on defense.

I will be making the drive from Columbus to see this one. My 2nd time ever seeing Garrard County and my first time seeing Green County in a game. I did see them several years ago at a lineman challenge/7 on 7 tourney in Cincy.

I am hoping for a close game and since I am covering it I have no prediction, but do know who I will quietly root for.

Golden Lions lost a ton of talent from the last couple years. Coaching staff will have them ready but look for Garrard to start slow with a lot of learning curve. Green Co 28-14

Don’t know a lot about Garrard, but I know Green is scrappy so I’m going with them 27-21.

A ton? Sullah (OL/DL) was the best player they lost this past year. They return most of their starters on both sides of the ball, and I'm not even sure Sullah was their best player last year. I would give that honor to RB Malachi Simmons, he'll be a junior this year.

When you consider Quisenberry & Mcpherson to Boyle, Baker to Bryan Station, Hayes to LCA, another good athlete to Military academy (can't remember the name) Plus Mason Sulla, Austin Adams, Cruz Torres, Landon Daivs and Ty Davis lost to graduation I would say that's a lot of talent for a school like Garrard.

I mean if we want to go back a few years then a lot of teams have lost a lot of talent, that's not exclusive to Garrard. Most of those kids haven't played for Garrard in 2-3 years. Sulla was the only one who played in a majority of the games last year.

Garrard is returning their top two runners, QB, top four or five tacklers, either 3/5 or 4/5 of their starting O-Line, and a solid coaching staff. I would say those facts are more relevant to this game than the athletes from a couple of years ago.

Adair county was beating Garrard County 25-3 at half when all of varsity played, I would be surprised if this isn’t a Green county rout

I thought Adair's size gave Garrard some trouble up front. The Golden Lions have a lot of numbers but not a lot of experience across the line of scrimmage. Simmons, Garrard's leading returning rusher, also didn't play which might have factored into the result as well. I don't know if he will be back this week or if they are saving him for the regular season opener. I'm anxious to see how they look in their final scrimmage against Russell County.

I know this thread is about Garrard and Green, but I'll add that I thought Adair County looked pretty solid last week. Their rebuild might be a year or two ahead of schedule.

I did mention a couple years but either way Lions are a lot like Ads got couple skill kids but got to find some blocking and tackling. Those two skills win games.

I know nothing about Greens Opponent. I look for it to be a good game. Green Has a Good QB 2 of the top players in 2A Seymour and McKinney. Tons of skill guys. Could be sloppy first game. GIVE ME Green 28 to 14. Heard they may even kick feild goals this year. ANY truth?

I will refrain from making a bold prediction being I will be covering this one.

I do hope for a great game.
