  1. Tip-off in 25 minutes. I will try to update periodically.
  2. Each FCPS school has at least 1 magnet program that allows you to attend an out-of-district school. Some of those programs are easier to get into than others.
  3. In 1996 Charles Sheffield from Lloyd won 9th region tournament MVP on the losing team. Craziest part was he scored something like 5 points in championship game.
  4. I’ll be eagerly awaiting the results of the upcoming LCA investigation.
  5. Definitely a great guy - very few coaches that would do this!
  6. The Cincinnati Dragons will be hosting the Enter The Dragon Tournament this weekend at Mt Washington Rec Center (1715 Beacon St in Cincinnati). There will be 3 Cincinnati teams playing 12 games over the course of the weekend against other teams from across the country. Would love to have some new fans come check out some high-level wheelchair basketball!! Admission is $5 for the weekend and masks are required for all spectators. I will attach full schedule below but I would suggest coming to the varsity game at 3:30 on Saturday (Cincy - Atlanta) or the varsity championship at 12:30 (Likely Cincy - Atlanta again). Those will be a rematch of last year's national championship game and likely the top 2 teams in the country again this year. 2021 Enter the Dragon Tournament Schedule.pdf
  7. Yeah I can't see the committee putting ND in unless they absolutely have to.
  8. ND with a 15% chance of making playoff according to 538.
  9. Basically the point differential when that player is in the game. If I play 10 minutes what’s the score while I’m in the game. My team scores 25 and they score 20 when I’m in the game then my +- is +5.
  10. The Hawks rally late to end the Dragon's 32-game winning streak and win the tournament in Charlotte. Dragons had a 10 point lead with 10 minutes remaining but a key player fouls out with 3 minutes left along with some turnovers down the stretch allow the Hawks to complete the comeback. Next tournament for the Dragons will be our home tournament in Cincinnati on December 4-5.
  11. Oops sorry the final score was Cincinnati 54 Baltimore 48.
  12. Another close game for the Dragons as they rally from a 6-point halftime deficit. Dragons extend winning streak to 31 games and finish the first day of Queen City Classic with a 3-0 record. Next game is tomorrow morning at 10:00 against Fairfax Falcons.
  13. Dragons improve to 2-0 on the season and extend their winning streak to 30 games. Next up is Baltimore at 2:30.
  14. The Dragons win their opening game of the season in a rematch of last year's championship game. The Dragons trailed by 6 points at halftime and trailed by 10 points with 9 minutes remaining. Great run to close the game and Hawks miss a 3-pointer at the buzzer to close out the victory. The Dragons are now on a 29-game winning streak as they play Charlotte coming up in about 5 minutes.
  15. The Cincinnati Dragons will open their season on Saturday 11/6 at the Queen City Classic in Charlotte. The Dragons lose 3 players from last year's undefeated national championship team including 2 4-year starters but still return plenty of firepower. The 3 starters returning are junior Gabe Taylor (Augusta KY), junior Jamie Stanford (Madeira OH), and sophomore Mathias Krodel (Cincinnati OH). Several players will be vying for the 2 open starting spots including seniors Hayden Peck (Cincinnati) and Sebastian Thome (Dayton OH) as well as junior Kendall Speaks (Ironton OH) and 8th grader Sean Nichols (Villa Hills KY). Josh Clayton (Piqua OH) and Logan Cover (Hamersville OH) will also be looking to make contributions off the bench. The Dragons will be traveling to 5-6 tournaments across the region before playing in the national championship in Wichita at the end of March. The Dragons will be tested early and put their 28-game winning streak on the line at the Queen City Classic. The first game tomorrow at 10:00 AM is a rematch of the national championship against the Atlanta Hawks. The Hawks return 3 starters from last year including their leading scorer who just committed to play for the University of Alabama. The next game at 11:30 AM will be against the Charlotte Hornets (4th place at nationals last year) followed by a 2:30 PM matchup against a young talented Baltimore Blazers team. Catch all the action tomorrow at Cincinnati Dragons Facebook page
  16. Different sport but I think I have the same takeaways as most of you. Our wheelchair basketball team has 2 levels - prep (13U) and varsity. At the prep level, our coaches focus on kids having fun, everyone gets to play regardless of their ability, and focus is on player development. We occasionally lose some games that we probably could win otherwise but it has also allowed some players to develop faster than they would have otherwise if they had just sat the bench. At the varsity level, we treat it like able-bodied high school teams. No guaranteed playing time and play to win the games. I'm very confident our approach is the best. Kids come in to a new sport often a little unsure of their abilities, learn to have fun and love the game then they are more likely to put the hard work in to become great. Many teams in our league put a huge emphasis on winning prep games at the detriment of developing their players - one really strong player does all the ball handling, takes all the shots, etc. Those teams have kicked our butt at the prep level but then we have a superior varsity team because all of our players have had a chance to develop and improve their skills. It's much better to help kids develop a love of the game then the competitiveness and desire to work hard will come later.
  17. Grew up watching Boone County in the 1980s as a kid. Though I never played football, we went to all the home games and most of the away games. Great run of football for the Rebels during that time then I went to BCHS in the 1990s and got to watch the Shaun Alexander era. Lots of great memories!
  18. The Dragons are excited to announce that 3 of our players/alumni have been invited to try out for the Team USA U23 National Team. Players invited are pictured below - Dragons varsity player Gabe Taylor (Augusta KY) and Dragons alumni Kerwin Haake (Lexington KY and currently playing for the University of Arizona) and Alex Hilgeford (Beavercreek OH). Tryouts will take place on October 20-24 at the US Olympic/Paralympic Training Center at the Lakeshore Foundation in Birmingham. If selected to the team, players would compete at the U23 Wheelchair Basketball World Championships in Japan next summer. In addition, our varsity coach Jake Counts (Covington KY) was selected as an assistant coach for the team.
  19. The Cincinnati Dragons are looking for new players ages 5-18 for the upcoming 2021-22 season. Players don't need to be regular wheelchair users but must have a lower leg disability that prevents them from playing able-bodied basketball competitively (spina bifida, cerebral palsy, spinal cord injuries, amputations, etc.). We will be hosting a "try it day" on Saturday October 9th at Leblond Recreation Center in Cincinnati. Please see attached flyer and pass this along to anyone who might be interested - thanks for your help!!
  20. I just hope UK plays well so we can find out if they’re legit. Haven’t seen anything close to their best game yet.
  21. The emergency QB is the one with the injured hand. The actual QB Doty was out with an injured foot but played in the last game after the emergency QB went out.
