  1. According to the Herald Leader 523 out of 40000 students in Fayette County requested an extra year. 242 of those were high school students. Courier Journal says 770 of 96000 students in Jefferson County requested an extra year. One other interesting thing I was not aware of is that students can’t retake classes from previous years or take new classes. So basically you have to take the exact same schedule you had this year.
  2. There haven’t been any rankings yet. But I would expect us to be #1 nationally as we are the only undefeated team left and have played against good competition.

  14. Quite a score. Anyone got info on this slugfest?
  15. Here's a good story the local news did about the tournament. https://www.wate.com/news/local-news/watch-hoopfest-at-rocky-top-showcases-top-tier-talent-for-wheelchair-basketball-tournament/
  16. Here's the final scores from today's tournament. Pool Play Cincinnati 69 Atlanta White 34 Cincinnati 63 Charlotte 38 Cincinnati 69 Atlanta Red 62 Championship Cincinnati 63 Atlanta Red 49 This is the first time in program history we have beat the Atlanta Red team who finished last year ranked #3 in the nation. Great first tournament for the Dragons and it's so fantastic to see our players back on the court after over a yearlong layoff. Our team has been practicing/conditioning for the last 7 months and great to see the hard work pay off! We will back in action on April 17-18 in Iowa.
  17. The Cincinnati Dragons will open their season at the Rocky Top Hoopfest this Saturday!! Top competition will include Atlanta (finished #3 in country last year) and Charlotte (#11 last year). Full schedule and livestream info is attached if anyone wants to tune in.
  18. 1) Honestly either way I don't see many students doing this. I teach HS seniors and haven't heard of anyone talking about this at all. But I would think if a student is doing it just for sports it would be much more likely for a fall sport. 2) I would assume once they meet their diploma requirements they have their diploma and that is finalized. It is a very weird situation though. They would be both officially graduated and still in high school at the same time.
  19. Just what I was going to say. I could see a fall sport athlete coming back for 2 months then dropping out. I can’t see many winter or spring sport athletes repeating the entire year.
  20. After over a year off due to Covid, the Cincinnati Dragons will be returning to action this weekend in Knoxville TN!! We will play a reduced schedule this year but we are happy that our players (especially our seniors) will get a chance to play. TEAM PREVIEW The Dragons are looking to make a run at the national championship this year with 4 out of 5 starters returning from a team that finished #5 in the country last year. The Dragons will be led by their senior co-captains Alex Hilgeford (Beavercreek OH) and Kerwin Haake (Lexington KY). Starting post player Hilgeford will bring a solid presence inside as the second leading scorer last year with a team-high 56% field-goal percentage. Starting PG Haake recently signed his letter-of-intent with the University of Arizona and will look to control the game with his ballhandling and outside shooting (team-high 17 3-pointers last season). Joining them in the starting lineup will be a trio of talented sophomores including last year's leading scorer Gabe Taylor (Augusta KY) and 2 speedsters Jamie Stanford (Cincinnati) and Mathias Krodel (Cincinnati). The Dragons will also be expecting contributions off the bench from Kendall Speaks (Ironton OH), Hayden Peck (Cincinnati), Sean Nichols (Villa Hills KY), Jakoby Gilliam (Cincinnati), Josh Clayton (Piqua OH) and Logan Cover (Hamersville OH). TEAM SCHEDULE The Dragons will play a challenging schedule starting with the Rocky Top Invitational next Saturday March 27th where they will face teams ranked #2 (Atlanta) and #11 (Charlotte) in last year's final rankings. March 27 Knoxville April 17-18 Des Moines May 1-2 Kansas City May 15 Atlanta May 22 Midwest Conference Tournament in Cincinnati June 25-27 National Tournament in Wichita All games will be streamed live on our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/gcasc
