Cats get their first commitment in the class of 2022 as Jeremiah Caldwell commits yesterday. Caldwell is a composite 4-star CB (#317 in the nation) from Michigan. Good pickup to start the class and Clinkscale continues to do a great job getting talent out of Michigan.

Lexington Catholic is all turf field as their field is part of the football field. Definitely an odd setup and not easy for the opposing pitchers to adjust to.

Fox 19 did a great story on our senior captain Kerwin Haake's commitment to play collegiate wheelchair basketball for the University of Arizona. Kerwin has been traveling from Lexington KY to Cincinnati to play/practice with the Dragons for the last 6 seasons, earning several regional and national awards along the way. Kerwin is deaf but has not let that stop him from competing and communicating with his teammates on the court. The Cincinnati Dragons are excited to announce our first college wheelchair basketball commitment. Our senior captain and point guard Kerwin Haake from Henry Clay HS in Lexington KY has committed to the University of Arizona to continue his education and play collegiate wheelchair basketball for the Wildcats!!

We switched from Dish Network a few months ago and love it! Much cheaper with mostly the same channels. App works really well to be able to watch from your phone. Easy to get packages like NFL Redzone for a few months and then cancel when the season is over. Highly recommend making the switch.

Henry Clay outscores Lafayette 21-0 in 4th quarter to advance to 2nd round. This was the first game for HC in over a month.

Both Paris and Bourbon County are out of the playoffs according to Ivan Rice who writes for the local newspaper there.

Per Jared Peck of Herald Leader, both the Dunbar-Lafayette and Tates Creek-Henry Clay games tonight have been cancelled due to Covid concerns.

First career victory for Coach Gay and the Blue Devils snap a 14 game losing streak.

After today's update Fayette County is not in the red zone but is very close. This could continue to be an issue throughout the season. And I feel very bad for the players involved who have done the right things to be able to play this year and once again future games and their season may be taken away from them.

And also Dunbar-Great Crossing in football and Henry Clay-GRC in girls soccer. May be more that I’m not aware of.

Found this on the KY State Covid website - looks like about 7-8 counties currently in the red zone. Fayette is at 26.3 cases per 100K population just above the threshold of 25 to be classified as red.

Thought I would start a separate thread for this. In the last couple days, at least 2 football games and 1 soccer game have been cancelled by county schools not wanting to play Fayette County schools because they are currently in the "red zone" for COVID. Has this happened elsewhere in the state? Are there other counties currently in the red zone besides Fayette?

I teach statistics and if nothing else Covid has given me plenty of real-life statistics examples to discuss in class.

Wherever anyone stands on playing versus not playing this fall, the way these high school kids have been treated is not right IMO. They followed protocols, had their season delayed, then KHSAA says they can play and now just when they finally get a chance to practice they have to wait nervously until Friday to see if they can proceed. I think they should be able to play but I can also see the arguments against it. But I hate seeing these kids getting treated like this.

Saw the same thing at UK when I was running through there earlier this week.

Per their Twitter page, Manual has added LaSalle to their schedule on September 18. Hopefully that's a good sign that JCPS is still planning to play football.

On a lighter note, one of our Cincinnati Dragons got featured during the KY Press Conference yesterday.

Royals play well but lose to tough Houston squad by 11 points. We led most of the game but their fullcourt pressure wore us down and they made a big run in last few minutes. We finish 3rd place by far our best finish in the Royals 5 year history!!
