Turf Fields for Softball

Featured Replies

I was told that Somerset is in the process of putting Astroturf on their softball field.

Is putting turf on softball fields common or at least becoming more prevalent?

Which schools have "turf" softball fields?

Lexington Catholic is all turf field as their field is part of the football field.  Definitely an odd setup and not easy for the opposing pitchers to adjust to.

Beechwood is one or the only school in NKY with a Turf Softball Field. When they built their Baseball/Softball facility a few years back they went the Turf route. Beechwood is a odd setup for sure. Nice but Odd!

You can't play a Baseball and Softball game at the same time. Both outfields intertwine with one another. But with Beechwood having Turf the 9th was able to move the Regional Tourney there a few years back to get it in.

Holmes has a turf baseball and there is plans for a softball field on campus behind the football field, and turf infield has been mentioned, also I believe Bellevue has a turf infield.

GRC has one, and I have heard that Somerset was doing the same as you stated already. The thinking behind this I would believe is that you never know what the weather will be like during the spring in Kentucky. Should help get games in, a lot less work to do on fields for practices and games. Previously saw Holmes campus for the first time, the fields and campus were amazing!
