What region is officiating the 12th region tournament this year?

Was Simon Kenton at full strength when these two teams played earlier in the year?

I’d hold off on predictions for next year. The possibility for “5th years” to come back could change the landscape for some schools.

Also think it is the only region in the state without a private school.

Simon Kenton hasn't been to the 8th region championship game since 2014 and has never won the 8th region tournament. (SK is the largest school in the region) North Oldham has never been to an 8th region championship game.

Oldham County & Collins have won 5 of the last 9 8th region titles. This is the heavyweight match on Friday.

Ballard was playing its 3rd game in 4 days when it lost to Trinity in double OT. I think a rested Ballard is a different Ballard this time around.

Do any teams in the state know each other any better than Trinity - St. Xavier? They're playing their 3rd game of this season and several of the kids played with each other the the CSAA growing up. This will be a battle, and whoever wins will have a strong shot at a 7th region title. I'll go with the Tigers just because of the depth in their senior class, but this game is really a toss-up.

This is Oldham County's tournament to lose. They should handle Owen easily tonight and will probably play what could be the "championship game" on Friday night against Collins. Oldham has too much experience, size and depth for most others in the 8th region tournament. They are the only team in New Castle without a loss in the region, and they toughened their schedule this year. Anything short of a region championship and a deep run in Lexington might be viewed as a disappointment in Buckner. A minor hurdle that OC may have to overcome is how the games are called by non-8th region officials. The Colonels probably benefit more than anyone from the officiating in the "friendly confines" of the 8th region with their style of play and aggressive defense. As Coach Simpson has said, they will grab, push and foul you on each play and know that the officials won't call every one! A tight whistle by out-of-region refs might lead to more foul trouble than OC is used to, but they still have the depth to overcome it and are the overwhelming favorite to cut down the nets on Saturday.

I see Collins winning this one over Walton-Verona. Collins has played well of late, and 5 of their last 6 losses have been to teams in the BGP top 20. I think Collins may pose the biggest challenge to Oldham County in the 8th region tournament. Playing Collins is like going to the dentist . . . they make it hard to score! Ultimately I think OC's size and experience will wear down the Titans.

If a district or regional game, I’d also say a relative or employee of a school in that district or region tournament.

Another tight game between these two. Both games Ballard has pulled away at the end.

I’m guessing Sam Conley’s early season injury cost Spencer a #1 seed in the district that could have provided a smoother path to New Castle. Also, the departure of Gage Mabry had to have an impact on their offensive firepower, especially from 3 point land.

Looks like Oldham County hasn't played in a couple of weeks - assume this was a Covid-related pause as opposed to just "playing it safe." You never know how a team will play the first game after a layoff, but Oldham County could have an off game and still win this one.

Do you know if there is any livestreaming of this game . . . doesn't look like it is the case so far. Should be a good one! I hope foul trouble doesn't impact the game for either team.

Final per Twitter. Was Spencer at 100% for this game? Would have picked them as heavy favorites for this district.

I would think the Spencer County faithful will be disappointed if this year's senior class did not make a deep run at Henry County next week. They got by the Titans a couple of weeks ago. I expect they'll come out on top again tonight.

Sounds like an offensive explosion for North Oldham after two 39-point outings! This was a much higher scoring game than the last game between these two.
