  1. It will be interesting to see how Highlands bounces back after an emotional loss last night. Quick turnaround against a rested St X squad.
  2. CM - I think it's Oldham County then everyone else at this point. Teams are probably trying to figure out how to stay injury-free and COVID-free leading up to districts!
  3. I think it will take Mudd a couple more games to ramp back up for St X. I think Highlands takes this one.
  4. Jeffersontown’s lofty preseason expectations assumed Jaylen Fairman and Gage Mabry would be playing. Both players transferred.
  5. Brilliant! I’m sure all the senior basketball players would love to call it quits just as our positive tests continue to decline across the Commonwealth! 🤦‍♂️
  6. St. X has played pretty well without Mudd. I expect them to be even better with him returning. They also get another backup big soon, and size will be a problem for South Oldham as the Dragons don't have a true post player.
  7. I predict foul trouble for Male and a CovCath victory. Pope’s absence for Male will hurt.
  8. North Oldham appears to be pretty good on social media but their record is 1-3. They were one of the top preseason picks in the 8th.
  9. Seneca led at St X all game tonight before losing the lead with 3 seconds left. OC’s size will be a challenge for Seneca. How tightly the game is called will also have an impact, especially with two pressing teams.
  10. Sloppy play by CAL in last minute. Ballard up 62-57. Under 1:00 to olay
  11. CAL (playing its 14th game) against Ballard (playing its 1st) could be a good one tonight!
  12. This is a "new look" Butler program. The Bears have a new coach, Brent Jameson, who arrives after turning the Scottsburg, IN program around. The leading returning scorer from last year, Turrell Cleaves, is now at Jeffersontown. Coach Goodin built a good program over the last several years, so there should be some good talent ready to step up. Butler plays Manual tonight so that should be a good early test. I predict it will be a sloppy game as neither team has played much this year.
  13. Hope to see more game recaps in next week’s report!
  14. I see Oldham’s size plus their experienced guard trio of Oak, Campbell and Gibson leading to a victory over Collins.
  15. I think talent overcomes game experience in most situations, especially if they get 10-12 games under their belt. Most of the high-level JCPS kids played enough ball in AAU and other leagues throughout the summer and early fall to stay sharp. There have also been outlets for them to workout while shutdown. That said, if CAL is playing their 15th game against a JCPS school playing their 2nd, I’ll take CAL if the talent is equal. I’m a little more concerned about the injury risk over the balance of the season: cramming 4 games in a week, limited time for preseason conditioning, frequent stops/starts for quarantines, etc.
  16. Has anyone played more games so far than Christian Academy of Louisville? They are scheduled to play their 12th game tonight against John Hardin. Interestingly, CAL was one of first schools to go 100% in person. It doesn't seem to have hurt their ability to keep their kids out of quarantine and play games!
  17. If the comparative Bardstown games are any indication, St. X should be the favorite in this one. St. X will probably be a little angry after the DeSales game. Experienced St. X guards v. a young Collins backcourt.
  18. Cup is half-full ColonelMike . . . despite all the stringent quarantine regulations, 67% of the games were played tonight!
