Simon Kenton hasn't been to the 8th region championship game since 2014 and has never won the 8th region tournament.  (SK is the largest school in the region)

North Oldham has never been to an 8th region championship game.

You are correct; North Oldham has never made it past the SF round.   North last made it to this tourney in 2015; the Mustangs last made it to the SF round in 2011 when they beat W-V in the first round but lost to Spencer in the second.

For the record, SK currently is showing as having about 100 students more than Oldham County, the second-largest school in the region.   SK is at almost 1,800 students.

The conversation about enrollments made me curious.  Some really small schools in the 8th region!  I was thinking 1794 wasn't all that big, but I see that Simon Kenton is the 13th largest school in the state (out of 280).  All in all, probably pretty similar numbers to most regions in the state.

1. Simon Kenton 1794
2. Oldham County 1656
3. South Oldham 1386
4. Woodford County 1285
5. Collins 1203
6. Anderson County 1067
7. Grant County 1064
8. North Oldham 1057
9. Shelby County 1000
10. Spencer County 931
11. Henry County 645
12. Carroll County 559
13. Owen County 553
14. Walton-Verona 551
15. Gallatin County 459
16. Trimble County 348
17. Williamstown 251
18. Eminence 224

Also think it is the only region in the state without a private school.

Should be interesting to see how SK responds to the loss at home to North, their only 8th Region loss of the season.

And how North responds to SK's response.

It's all a big chess game.

Pregame show on www.pegasussportsky.com starts at 8 pm.

I'll post updates as I can.

Was Simon Kenton at full strength when these two teams played earlier in the year?

To my knowledge, SK was at full strength, but North was not.   Mustangs were missing four players during that game - one starter (Rico Carr-Cole 15.8 ppg) and three subs.

This post even further elevates the legacy of Jon Jones. If that is even possible.
