Extremely tough gig. Extremely tough. Joe is a dang fine fella, and their lack of wins on the field is one of these cases where it is in no way-shape or form indicative of the coach he is. I'm not sure that in the 13 years of the school that they've been truly competitive in any sport..girls soccer was for a bit, but it's an across the board thing there.

They’ve got the hands on deck. The support is there. Tyson Prewitt would be who will take over the MS program at Bate. He was part of at least one, maybe two of Danville’s early 2000’s title team(s). He’s been coaching with Turner for several years at the MS level, and an added bonus is that he’s also in the school system….at Bate. The Bate program has been KT’s baby for years, either as an assistant or as their HC. I’d be willing to go out on a limb and say that neither he, nor Stoney, would have wanted to make the jump up to DHS from Bate if they both didn’t know that the youngins weren’t going to be in good hands. 1- Because what it means to KT. 2- Stoney also knows that who is leading your Middle School? While they are the head coach of it? They are also probably the most, or can be argued, that they are the most important “assistant” a high school program has. If they aren’t playing in middle school & having some fun doing it? Makes it all the more unlikely (in most cases) to get them to come out when they get to high school, as you know.

Nothing. Much of it is basketball driven. Hager, while a P4 football prospect that already has offers also has the same aspirations in hoops and then Turner was behind Murphy this year at QB.

Bryan Cross, who has been Stoney's DC for many years both at Casey and now at Adair. Coach Cross is a great guy and a heck of a coach- he was part of WKU's 1-AA National Title staff in 2002. He's also already in the building as a H/PE teacher, including a couple in school weights periods that have many of the players. Go ahead and pull the trigger on him today.

Love everything about this! With the names mentioned in the last few days, Danville wasn’t going to go wrong with either. Danville IS NOT left for dead, as a matter of fact, I’ll go on record in saying that things can be righted back to where Danville is a major player come November sooner than later. The new administration is THERE. The talent, especially coming up in the younger ranks is THERE. The support from the community to see this program rise from the ashes is THERE. I don’t know that the sting for how Clevenger was done wrong will ever go away from a few years ago. Heck, Stoney himself would even tell you that was wrong- I don’t know many coaches across the state that wouldn’t, but as the saying goes “time heals all wounds”. Clay has things rolling in the Briar Patch, and that will only continue…now Danville is in a place to get the ball rolling once again.

I know the trip from Pond Creek to the plains of between Morganfield & Sturgis have been discussed (I for one love these kind of match ups/trips this time of year), but to put it in perspective... Belfry is closer to the following (out of state) ACC universities: -Pitt, Maryland, UNC, Duke, Wake Forest, NC State, Clemson, Virginia, Virginia Tech (not that the last two are shocking) ..closer to the following (out of state) SEC schools. - UT, UGA, South Carolina, Vandy And, closer to the following notable cities... - Cleveland OH, Charlotte NC, Pittsburgh PA and only about 50 miles short of one of the three routes shown to Atlanta.

Not to be a downer here, but most of the teams left playing are almost always "most of the teams left playing" (then there are several that aren't- who are true contenders, only to be knocked out by another contender in the 2nd round). So by default....Rag Tag U, Sisters of the Poor Prep & Average Joe Academy aren't really running to sign up the "household name-usual suspects" this time of year during the regular season, unless, by default, they are in the same district(s).

Furthermore in regards to being "balanced", Boyle County for example, in their last four state titles (passing wise) has averaged 9/14 for 125 & Pikeville in their last three state titles has averaged 5/12 for 62

CAL clocked everybody that year except Tilghman. Others weren't so fortunate, with the likes of 5A South Oldham, Owensboro Catholic and LCA just to name a few in their 14 game laundry list of those they did that too.

Yes they did, I was there for it. FWIW, Garrard played really well, and it was just a really good game (obviously, by the score). I'm not calling for the upset or even dying on the hill that it will be remotely close, but when you factor in the styles of play by both Central/Garrard operate in...the clock is going to run when both teams have the ball. Both know who they are, both know who they aren't. IF Garrard can extend drives, hold onto it, somehow manage to punch one or two in against a defense that, historically, almost feels like they have the ball when their opponents do + force Central into a couple turnovers? They'll have a chance. Obviously that's a lot that they are going to need to go right. Central a few years back when they won their last state title looked like they were going to get ran out of the house by Corbin in the 1st half, then the 2nd half, I don't know that Corbin crossed midfield. They are definitely their own kind of beast.

It's possible. Eat clock, don't turn it over, be happy with 3 yards/play. Garrard plays a style with what they do in the Wing T (the couple series within the system in and of itself that they choose to hang their hat on) where if anybody like them that is a legit underdog will give them the best chance of keeping it close and/or doing the unthinkable, it's them. I've seen it. On the other hand, I've seen it before where Central, and the almost seeminlgy year in year out turnover causing machine (pick 6's, strip 6's, scoop and scores, etc) that they are, take people that played the only style that would have given them a chance & Central ensues yet another boat racing to yet another team in their class. I've seen it.

Extremely hard to gauge. Also, the weekend that McLean/Union played was the weekend that Hurricane (I forget her name) pulled up a parking spot over Kentucky and many games were moved to either Thursday, or in this case (and, others) on Saturday. Couple in the facts that more than likely the game was played on a sponge between two teams that combined for 4 total pass attempts in the game (nothing wrong with that) & I'd say that game took just a little over the 48 minutes that were put on the clock. I know this is the Union/Adair thread, but while we are on the subject of McLean, kudos to Zach Wagner and what he has been able to do down there in Calhoun for the last several years. He's been able to do something there that hasn't been done in a long while, if ever, and playing the same people that were played when McLean was most peoples homecoming. Friday night should be a good one. Coach Johns has made Union a consistent force to be reckoned with come November & Stoney has his "Tribe" from Columbia rolling. I'm pulling for the Fighting Stonebraker's to go into the the heart of WKY coal country where conveyer belts above ground taking it to the barges on the Ohio make their own road map and pull off the slight "upset".

Their accuracy each week not just for Kentucky, but across the country, is scary. For the year in Kentucky is a tad over 83% for the average, with their highest being 94.7% last week (nothing earth shattering there) & 91% Week 10. They’ve not been under 80% since week 3 of the season.

According to Calpreps (self admitted homer of that site) none of the 4 seed wins Friday night were considered upsets. Calpreps had Madison Central at 8, while Tates Creek was in the 22 spot (projection 38-14, final was 42-0). North Laurel was ranked 19th and Montgomery County 20th (projection 22-14 NL, final score was 20-17 NL). I'll be interested to see how that applies this week District Seedings vs CalPreps, because there are several "watch list" games Friday night where "upset" is a very relative term.

Both of these. With one minor change, keep the State Finals the first weekend of December. Play an 11 game regular season. I love everything about this. The fact of the matter is, there is nothing about the current set up where "everybody has a chance". More like eight or so in each class, every year, and if we are being honest (with most classes), it's not even that many.

Even with some of the better match ups in the 1st round, for the majority of those it's a "clocking" in the waiting come round 2 and for some others, that inevitable is coming in the 3rd round, it even happens in the 4th round. If it's about opportunities at playing as many games as possible, which I agree, then play an 11 game regular season with a regional "bowl" game of sorts (which would be the current 2nd round week) for those that have accumlated 5 wins & just take the Top 8 in each class to the playoffs. FWIW, some of the perceived "upset alerts" this week based off district seeding alone, aren't considered to be that on CalPreps.

1- Do like Ohio does. Have classes, but not districts- maybe even go back to the old school conferences. 2- Using Calpreps, our RPI, a mix or something along those lines, only take the Top 8 from each class to the playoffs (truth be told, you could probably take just the Top 4, because that's all that have a chance at winning each class the overwhelming vast majority of the years as is). 3- With only taking the top 8, it allows the 1st round of the playoffs to be the current Region Finals week, thus move the opening week of each season back to Labor Day weekend and it would allow for a 10 game schedule still under the current format. OR, make it the last week of August and it would allow for an 11 game regular season. 5- The teams that don't make the playoffs? Take the next 16 based off computer rankings and play a Thanksgiving Day bowl (still done in parts of the Northeast)

He was from 90-96 when they played in something like 4 or 5 straight region finals, then he became the defensive coordinator from 97-2012 at Danville (he was also with Sam Harp from 88-90 before leaving for Garrard). In 2013 he took the Garrard job back through the 2021 season. Hands down one of the best there is.

Let’s just look at two jobs that are open right now, and places that, IMO (as well as many others I’m sure) would consider to be “good jobs”, maybe even could be argued that they are “great” jobs- I wouldn’t dispute that on either, but let’s just call them “good” for the sake of argument (school district as a whole, the towns, pay, resources, leadership, etc) in Central Hardin and McCracken County. Central Hardin has been around since 1990 and is about to have their 7th head coach in that time (and, the 6th this millennia). 2024 will be their 35th year, and that’s less than 6 full years on average per coach up until this point. Hardin County/Elizabethtown is Bowling Green/Warren County without WKU, and even without a major university is still every bit as great of a town to live in and growing by the day with no end in sight. McCracken County is going on their 5th since 2013. There has been four in the previous eleven seasons, and this will be their 5th in twelve. To put THAT in perspective, can anybody tell me a school/program in that nice of a town, with that good of a school district from academics to every sport played, that pays as well as they do, with that nice of facilities, with that number of players year in year out, with what seemingly has always a very sports minded administration from the top down that just so happens to be the only high school in their school district? If so, I’ll wait.
