This is a rematch from last years first round of the playoffs where Union County was victorious, though this time it will be a trip to the final 8 of 3A on the line. 1 seed Union County took care of Glasgow 45-16 last Friday, while 2 seed Adair easily handled McClean County 41-0. Adair is led by their big 3 offensive trio of QB Easton Jessie, RB Lane Grant, and WR Solomon Stonebraker who all had big first round games. Union has the leading rusher in 3A in Jaron Johnson who plays both RB and QB at times. Look for this to be a high scoring game with some explosive plays. Adair County will be attempting to make it to round 3 of the playoffs for the first time in school history.

I am going with Adair 42-35.  I think this could be one of the better games in Ky this week.  Adair advance to 3rd round for the 1st time..

The poll is 16-8 Union right now.

Adair will have a tough time slowing #1 Johnson down.  He is a special player.  If they can keep him in front of them will have a chance but I don't think they can.  Union 42-21

Glasgow played both teams and it appeared to me that UC was a better team but who really knows but I’m going 35-14 UC.

This game has tremendous potential. It's been made possible by 3A's "group of death" in District 2. How often do you see a 10 win team that's ranked #7 going on the road in the second round?

Adair has something Union doesn't... a legit full time quarterback. The Indians' passing game is far more refined and reliable.

On the other hand, you've got Johnson, a whirling dervish who will make you work as hard to tackle him as any player in the state.

This class has several attractive second games on deck. This one may end up being the best.

Someone from McLean County might give the opposite take. Union had to grind out a win over the Cougars, while Adair running clocked them last week.

Both teams are in fine form at the moment. Hopefully they put forth their best effort and produce a classic.

That’s why it is so hard to read a team based off scores.

Extremely hard to gauge.

Also, the weekend that McLean/Union played was the weekend that Hurricane (I forget her name) pulled up a parking spot over Kentucky and many games were moved to either Thursday, or in this case (and, others) on Saturday.

Couple in the facts that more than likely the game was played on a sponge between two teams that combined for 4 total pass attempts in the game (nothing wrong with that) & I'd say that game took just a little over the 48 minutes that were put on the clock.

I know this is the Union/Adair thread, but while we are on the subject of McLean, kudos to Zach Wagner and what he has been able to do down there in Calhoun for the last several years. He's been able to do something there that hasn't been done in a long while, if ever, and playing the same people that were played when McLean was most peoples homecoming.

Friday night should be a good one. Coach Johns has made Union a consistent force to be reckoned with come November & Stoney has his "Tribe" from Columbia rolling. I'm pulling for the Fighting Stonebraker's to go into the the heart of WKY coal country where conveyer belts above ground taking it to the barges on the Ohio make their own road map  and pull off the slight "upset".

I'll take Johns and the Braves.

The field was a mess from all the rain on Friday and the duration of this game was played in the rain and wind on Saturday. The outcome would have been much different on a dry field or even a slightly dry field. It was awful conditions for a football game.

Thanks for the context guys. Numbers don't always tell the whole story.
