  1. The Male - Doss thread title says Doss is sixth in 5A. Doss dropped out of the top 10, right?
  2. I can see Male's backfield having a good night if Doss fails to adjust like Ballard did (or didnt).
  3. I was there for Cathedral vs. X. X has a pretty solid defense but had no defensive answer for Cathedral's RB.
  4. And Fort Knox before John Hardin.
  5. You trying to do a LaVar Ball impression? The Balls arrived in 2012-13 (Lonzo's freshman HS season), but prior to that, Chino Hills was NOT a cupcake/pushover: 11-12: 17-11 10-11: 22-7 09-10: 26-3 08-09: 25-8 07-08: 27-5 06-07: 22-7 05-06: 14-15 04-05: 18-10
  6. Stats do NOT add up. Has Buchannon 16 completions for 226, but has receivers totalling 17 receptions for 219 (one more reception, but 7 fewer yards). Did Buchannon have a minus-7 reception not accounted for in his stats (but accounted for by receivers)?
  7. So outside of a 7-minute span -- in a 48-minute game -- it was a one-touchdown game, but THAT span makes it NOT a close game? Ok. I guess.
  8. Got the Lexington schools confused. Apologize for that. But the playoff rotation HAS changed since last year, I misexplained it, but IIRC, the final would be: Etown/Boyle/LexCath vs. Central/Belfry/Corbin E'town still has to go through Boyle or LexCath, with Central shifting to face Corbin or Belfry in the East.
  9. The top six in 3-A, for those who played, all came off looking great. Plus Paducah Tilghman and Caldwell did nothing to embarass themselves and Bardstown will get better (Bardstown is incredibly young and I don't think voters realized that). 3-A certainly has quality depth at the top.
  10. Article below talks about just how dominating Boyle County was in first half and how frustrating it was for John Hardin. I guess I hadn't realized season openers have NOT been going well for John Hardin, but people keep picking them anyway ... PREP FOOTBALL: Rebels take advantage of Bulldogs’ mistakes (8/2) | John Hardin | thenewsenterprise.com * Boyle County racked up 363 yards of offense, including 252 on the ground. Crawford rushed for 179 yards on 18 carries, while Bartleson added 85 yards on nine attempts. * Boyle County’s defense produced as many touchdowns in the first half as its offense. Besides Bartleson’s pick 6, sophomore Reece Smith intercepted a pass and returned it 37 yards for a touchdown to stretch the lead to 27-0. * Dropping the season opener is nothing new for the Bulldogs. This loss marked the fourth consecutive year they’ve begun the season with a loss, including three by 26 points or more. They lost to Bowling Green, 48-22 last season and South Warren beat John Hardin, 43-12 two years ago.
  11. Problem is, it's hard to decide which 3-A team had the better weekend? - Central defensively dismantling 6-A top-10 Manual? - LexCath waxing Waggener's stars? - Boyle County demoralizing 5-A top-10 John Hardin with defensive returns? - Elizabethtown rolling at reigning 4-A state runner-up Franklin-Simpson? Problem for Boyle is it would have to go through two of those teams, not to mention Corbin or Belfry at the semis level (and then have have to knock off an E'town team, which appears for now better than originally thought, it in the final).
  12. Doubt it. McCracken's considered a fringe top-10 team for 6A and two schools in Hardin County (non top-10 6A Central Hardin and top-five ish 3A E'town) have had no problem with Tilghman the last couple of years.
  13. You went out on that limb early. Good call. #TrustTheProcess
  14. @JimSchue said Bardstown was probably over-rated at this point, but had room to grow.
  15. Against arguably the toughest opponent anyone faced on opening weekend. And X NEEDED all of his production, unlike someone stat padding in a 46-6 win against an overmatched team. I was very, very impressed last night.
  16. SK defense forced Meade to go 3-and-out on 4-of-6 possessions in first half (not counting final possession in which it only had 3 downs due to time): FRIDAY FOOTBALL: Simon Kenton drops Meade County | Area High Schools | thenewsenterprise.com
  17. I wasn't there as I go wherever the Courier-Journal tells me to go on Friday nights -- although I would LOVE to have CAL vs. Etown -- so I'll provide some links to game coverage from others. That being said, I'm shocked as anyone by the MARGIN of outcome, although I didn't say I would be surprised if E'town won one the road. I think 3-of-4 Bowling Green Daily News pickers chose F-S and all 4 said FS varsity would score 20 (F-S scored just 13 on E'town starters) and none of them thought E'town would put up 30+. I'm impressed, but I'm not calling them state champs yet (I did say E'town COULD get to the final). F-S is not near as deep, strong or as big as Belfry and or Corbin (and not as athletic as Central, which just decimated 6-A Manual defensively). FRIDAY FOOTBALL: Elizabethtown 55, Franklin-Simpson 23 (
  18. I'm tentatively scheduled to watch the Tiggers play this week as a freelancer for The C-J.
  19. You have a deeper roster than some 6a programs and bonafide stars in Dingle, Tisdale and Kenner. Plus, are there really many "princes" in 5A which have shown complete games enough to compete with BG? You're not going to find many folks jumping on the "Poor Purples" bandwagon.
  20. Just because you are the best in your district does NOT make you a top 10 lock. See 6A districts 1 and 2. Or in this case, 1A-D5. I wouldn't consider any of those teams elite, and I am pretty sure I'm not alone. So if being better or worse than Nicholas County makes a team definitely top 10 or not, that's not much of a measuring stick. You'd think you would want a BETTER gauge for considering teams among the best in their class, but apparently not so.
  21. What does that say for the strength, or lack thereof, of 6A D1?
  22. Going 10-0 against inferior competition doesn't make you a sleeper team. It means you were asleep when it came time to schedule ANYBODY with a pulse.
  23. Nicholas County is the measuring stick for a definitive top 10 ranking? Did I miss something?
  24. Folks in the Ville say watch out for teams like Western and Fern Creek in addition to the usual suspects ...
