Class 5A

The champ goes down! The champ goes down! Class 5A witnessed an uncommon sight as Bowling Green took an "L" to a very good 6A Pleasure Ridge Park squad and now appear to be human. The road doesn't get easier for the Purples as they must now turn around and square up against powerhouse St. Xavier. Covington Catholic takes the top spot by way of an ultra impressive blowout of 3A Lexington Catholic; the Colonels should have an easy go of it this week against 6A Cooper. In honor of the Season Finale of "Game of Thrones", some 5A teams will look to use chaos as a ladder this week. Fern Creek, Highlands, and Pulaski County all have opportunities to serve notice if they can pull out wins against highly regarded foes.

I would say St. X will beat Bowling Green, yes. I think the question is what kind of margin of victory. I'll be interested to see what kind of chip Bowling Green comes out carrying on their shoulders after last week.

 

I don't think a loss automatically equates to a downgrade for BG...but a big loss? Well, for a big loss, then yeah, Bowling Green may well be looking at a lower number in the 5A rankings.

What happens if Bowling Green beats Saint X and Covington Catholic doesn't manhandle Cooper?

 

I don't expect either to happen, but would a BG win over the #2 6A team, trump a close win over Cooper by the Colonels?

It doesn't take long for Highlands to climb. Should be better test to see how much they've improved.

With Highlands schedule we will know a lot about how much they have improved in the very near future. For the time being they are 2-0 and have a solid win versus Campbell County. The coming weeks will tell us a lot though as Highlands plays 4 top ten teams in their next 6 games.

Some game threads are posted on Saturday or Sunday before the new rankings come out.

Most threads are made before rankings come out so that is more than likely why.

Can't a mod go back and edit the thread title though?

 

Can be kind of confusing to have a thread saying they are ranked and have a rankings post next to it saying no, no they are not.

Yeah, a mod can fix it. I've stopped putting rankings in game threads because, you're right, it can be confusing. A mod could go back and add them after the rankings are updated. Sometimes it gets overlooked, though.
