Boyle County 41 John Hardin 6

Final from Mercer County.

What's your opinion of the two teams?

Boyle looked much better than they did in their scrimmage but in the same sentence John Hardin did not look good at all. O-Line play was bad at best and their defense just wore out. Boyle took advantage of most of their opportunities so I will say I feel better about the Rebels than I did a week ago.

Boyle fans can exhale a little bit and John Hardin fans just had their fears confirmed.

I was pleased with Boyle especially playing so many young players and was impressed with the team chemistry between the upper classmen and the young kids for game 1, it's hard to keep talent off the field no matter what grade it's in. Boyle's got a lot of work to do but I think all the pieces are there for a deep run this year.

Didn't get individual stats for JH sorry.

Boyle played a good game on both side of the ball. I really like that the defense held in check JH's break it at any time players. Other than one missed tackle, Boyle held the Bulldogs for 4 quarters. Got to get better on our kicking! Overall a good start to the 2017 season.

Big win for Boyle County.

JH's QB is a very good athlete. But he is not a qb.

Still a big IF, but IF Boyle shows up every game like this, they'll make noise in 3A. Great game from the offensive line and defense. Set the tone.

Problem is, it's hard to decide which 3-A team had the better weekend?

- Central defensively dismantling 6-A top-10 Manual?

- LexCath waxing Waggener's stars?

- Boyle County demoralizing 5-A top-10 John Hardin with defensive returns?

- Elizabethtown rolling at reigning 4-A state runner-up Franklin-Simpson?

Problem for Boyle is it would have to go through two of those teams, not to mention Corbin or Belfry at the semis level (and then have have to knock off an E'town team, which appears for now better than originally thought, it in the final).
