Spencer County 36 Bardstown 14

Featured Replies

Too much Kadin Smith in this one, from what I was told.

Smith had at least 4 TD's and a ton of of yardage. He appears to have earned that Purdue scholarship.

Bardstown is almost entirely manned by freshmen and sophomores, and a handful of tough juniors and seniors. They played hard, but made a lot of sophomore mistakes.

Tiger Head Coach David Clark's son, Brady, all 125 pounds of him, came in at QB in the 3rd series and promptly threw 2 TD's passes and stayed in the remainder of the night. He missed a few throws on the night, too, but all in all I would say the future looks promising.

BTW, Mike Marksbury is one good dude. The Spencer County faithful paid a pre-game memorial to Bardstown graduate running back Tariq Armour, who tragically drowned this summer right before he was to report to Georgetown on a football scholarship. We sat on the home sideline amongst the Spencer County crowd, enjoyed ourselves thoroughly even in defeat, and they have a great marching band. You could do worse than spend a Friday night in Taylorsville.

Certainly seemed like there would be some growing pains at Bardstown after losing so much last year. If those guys keep playing hard and stay healthy they'll be fine. Clark always does a good job.

@JimSchue said Bardstown was probably over-rated at this point, but had room to grow.

This year for the Tigers will depend on how quickly the blue-collar class of sophomores goes from being boys to men.

Yup. If those guys arrive early, they have a chance to live up to that coaches' poll ranking.

Tough break for the Tigers last night when their top linebacker, Drew Mason (who is also expected to be the featured back in the offense), re-aggravated a Wednesday ankle sprain in warm-ups before the game. That certainly had to complicate matters dealing with Smith.
