consistency seems to be the issue here. Rarely saw the same defense or offense week to week. They need to pick something and stick with it.

While this is a great idea often times we try to mimic the in school practice schedule that way everything is routine, the only issue is that 3:30 is usually one of the hottest times of the day so heat becomes an issue more times that preferred but hey we do what we can.. though with temperatures already in the 70s and 80s I'm worried that this summer is going to be rather warm..

This is for #2 in the District. Who takes gets the win and why?

Expecting sell-out crowd for this game. Both cities will be in attendance, as well as expected Ludlow as they play Bellevue the following week, potentially for the 2 seed in the district. Should be a great game and a great environment.

Its the 2nd meeting of these two teams. This one is the one for all the marbles, it counts toward district play, as well as being the Battle for the Paddle trophy game. Who do you have in this district match and why?

I have always thought it would be interesting if we did the classes how Premier League does soccer. It would likely make it more competitive as well. Top 2 teams in each Class move up in class, the bottom 2 drop down in class. The only class this may not help fully, but could still potentially is 6A. There is no promise that the 5A champion and runner up can compete in 6A but I'm sure they would be more competitive than the bottom 2 from that year. Not only that but it would make each class as a hole more evenly competitive after some time I believe. The only teams that this may suck for are the bottom of 1A, which easily could change year to year.

I think the question here is how good is Nicholas' pass defense. Brossart has gained much of their offense through the air and if Nicholas cannot match up on the outside then it could be a much longer night for NC than they think. Brossarts offense can put up point in bunches when they get on a roll, and Nicholas is a ball control type of team. Should be a heck of a game.

Both teams are win less going into this game, which team comes away with their first win this week?

It was less about how well Gallatin played more about Bellevue mishaps. The offense struggled early due to dropped passes and untimely penalties. They had an opportunity to score early on a long run by Adam Hazeres but was called back for a holding penalty that was unnecessary. Defense did decent early but as Gallatin kept running trap and power it wore the defense down and they began to give up bigger plays. Thomas played gallantly at QB. Had some decent runs and threw the ball well. The stats wont show it because the receivers dropped well over 5 well thrown balls but he just kept battling.

Ludlow lost most of their receivers and some of their line to graduation. Blackburn is the QB. They run alot of read option and allow him to use his ability to his advantage. He is the key to their offense.

Who will win this season opener and why?

Bracken County at #2? How does a team that was outscored 76-163 during district play last season end up at #2? I understand that it is 1A football and there is turnover often but that seems a bit of a stretch to me.

Well last I heard they only has 2-3 freshman playing varsity. I know of at least 4 that said they were staying down for NKYFL. The appeal for them is that the Bellevue Tigers Youth purchases any player that plays every stage of their youth career as a Tiger their High School Letter Jacket. I'm not sure if that is why they are choosing to play down or not but I'm sure it helps the NKYFLs case.

From what I have heard they are actually struggling for freshman numbers as many are opting to play their final year of youth league ball instead of making the jump to varsity so the 30 would be mostly soph and up.

Not sure where that info came from but I live near Gilligan Stadium and they have much closer to 30 players currently.

Also with schedule re-alignment being last season many schools play a very similar schedule to last year as most schools sign 2 year contracts.

I know in talking with our trainer last year their rule of them is to be at the event that has the highest risks. So if its just practices they will often be at football practices but games trump practices at all times. Having one AT per school is most common but when you think about it thats still a big risk but as with everything money talks.

Just out of curiosity which ones did you order and from where? On the Spalding I only saw 1 NFHS ball, hopefully they have more than just that one to choose from.

I'm curious as to how many A schools are doing spring practice and if they are how they are going, especially from a numbers standpoint.

Both Newport and Bellevue are among my favorites. Being able to see the city skyline as someone scores a TD is pretty amazing.

We puchased multiple Rawlings balls for that last two seasons. By the 6th game of the season we had to purchase new games balls to replace all of them. These are balls we only used in games. 4 of them only lasted 6 games if that tells you anything. The only ball that was remotely built well was the new Rawlings R2. I cannot tell you how many ST5s we have had to exchange because we got them and they wouldn't hold air straight from the bag. And the laces on them become flat quickly. Wilson is the best ball on the market by far and in the same price range as the R2. KHSAA needs to remember sometimes price really does equal quality.

Bishop Brossart also has Matthew Blank. 6'4" 250 Lbs.. Gonna be a big line for a 1A.
