LVGambla32 Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 I'm looking to get out and watch some football this year. Could someone give me a list of some of the big games in each week? Doesn't matter where they are. I'll travel anywhere. I just need something to start with. Thanks!
Sykotyk Posted July 23, 2016 Posted July 23, 2016 Sounds like fun. Sorry I can't be more of a help, as I wouldn't even know where to begin a list of 'best games'. But, I'm sure you'll find some as the season goes on.
NKYFBFAN Posted July 23, 2016 Posted July 23, 2016 I definitely plan on attending SK vs Ryle on October 21. Should be a heck of a game and a preview of a playoff matchup.
NKY-Sub Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 Holy Cross (Cov) vs Newport Central Catholic should be a good one this year
GloryDays Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 McCracken County @ Paducah Tilghman in a cross town rival game on Saturday night August 20th. Tilghman owned all the county teams for years before consolidation. The newly formed Mustangs have fielded some nice teams in the 3 years but Tilghman leads the series 2-1. It will be as big of a crowd as you'll see on this end of the state. Make sure you give yourself time to get a meal downtown and / or hit one of the local breweries. Italian Grill on Broadway or Doe's Eat Place come highly recommended.
LVGambla32 Posted July 24, 2016 Author Posted July 24, 2016 I haven't been to Paducah in a long time so that may be one that I could go see. SK-Ryle should be fun as well. I would like to go see Belfry and South Warren play as well.

Would be nice to have a good meal and a drink before hand. SK-Ryle should be fun as well. I would like to go see Belfry and South Warren play as well.

Best Belfry games: September 9th @ NewCath- Sounds like you are based close to NKY. If so Belfry doesn't travel North often and this is two blueblood programs. (2A Runner-UP) September 16th @ Pikeville- One of the State's best rivalries and for the first time it will be a battle of two Defending State Champs (1A State Champ) September 23rd @ Knoxville Catholic, TN- Doubt this one will be makeable but one of the best matchups of the year. KnoxCath is the defending TN 4A Champs and this game will feature 7 players with D1 offers including 4* WR Amari Rodgers (Clemson), 4* OT Cade Mays (Tennessee), 3* OL Austin Dotson (UK), and 3* OL Cole Bentley (UL). (TN 4A State Champs) September 30th vs. Cabell Midland, WV @ Belfry- Rematch of the only team to beat the Pirates in 2015. Cabell Midland is WV's largest school and nearly 3X the enrollment of Belfry and last year was an excellent team. CM was the #1 team in WV most of last year until a playoff upset. Really the only Belfry home game that stands out this year if CAM Stadium is on your "Must Do" list. October 28th @ Johnson Central- Battle of EKY powers and two teams that enter 2016 loaded. Football games at JC are a ton of fun. (4A Runner-Ups)

A trip to Knoxville wouldn't be horrible for me. It would be about the same distance as a game to Hop town or Pikeville.
Tony Cavalier Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 Several home games for Johnson Central should be entertaining this year. August 26-Johnson Central vs. Capital (WV) The 2014 WV AAA State Champ and 2015 State Runner-Up travels to JC for the RECC Bowl. Capital is led by University of Louisville commit LB Dorian Etheridge and speedster Silas Nazario. Capital knocked out previously undefeated Cabell Midland last year in the state semis. September 2-Johnson Central vs. Lexington Catholic Match-up between the 2015 4A runner-up and the 2015 3A runner-up. September 9-Johnson Central vs. South Charleston (WV) Another strong AAA team from the Mountaineer state led by Derrek Pitts Jr. Pitts is one of the most sought after SS in the country with offers from a slew Power 5 schools, including: Oklahoma, Penn State, Florida, Auburn, Clemson, Nebraska, Tennessee and Virginia Tech. October 21-Johnson Central vs. Ashland Since these two teams joined districts this game has determined the #1 seed and this year will probably be no exception. October 28-Johnson Central vs. Belfry What better way to close out the football season in EKY than to see these two teams strap it up. Belfry, reigning 3x 3A state champ, brings in probably one of the most dominant lines in the state.
gremlin35 Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 Highlands vs Simon Kenton see if SK can keep the streak going.
Purple88 Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 My recommendations: August 20 - Paducah Tilghman vs McCracken County or Christian County vs Caldwell County August 26 - Fern Creek at DuPont Manual (1923 Stadium - Lots of History there) September 2 - St Xavier at Bowling Green September 9 - Male at Trinity September 16 - Christian County at Hopkinsville September 23 - South Warren at Franklin Simpson September 30 - St Xavier vs Trinity (Papa Johns Cardinal Stadium) October 7 - Christian Academy of Louisville at DeSales (New Field, Old Rivals) October 14 - Covington Catholic at Highlands October 21 - Dupont Manual at Male (Oldest rivalry in the state, but may not be much of a game) October 28 - Belfry at Johnson Central or Caldwell County at Mayfield
