  1. Congrats to Wayne for fighting until the end. They hung in there and made the plays when they had a chance to win.
  2. Boyle scored first in the OT and kicked the extra point. LC scored on their first play on a run up the middle and the QB ran a bootleg in for 2 pt. conversion and win.
  3. Lincoln was looking for their first win last year and was given no chance in this game. Lincoln won easily. I think both teams are weaker this year, but I see Lincoln winning not as easily as last year but again by a comfortable margin, there is just a huge difference between 5A and 3A.
  4. This game will be played, the question is will it be played Friday or Saturday, this will be decided on Thurs., my guess is it is played Sat.
  5. French went 3-7 and 5-5 his first 2 season with way more talent (2 future D-1 players). There is no heat on Settles, he's in it for the long haul....building the program from ground up.
  6. He resigned right before weights started. He told Coach Settles that he felt like with coaching he was spending too much time away from his wife and kids.
  7. For whatever the reasons, Lincoln played 3 JV games last year and no freshman games..........
  8. I can't believe the lack of respect Mercer is getting, Mercer's schedule has been way more tough and they just put a lot of points on Hoptown. Look for Mercer to win by at least a TD or maybe more and this is not disrespecting BC, I just think Mercer is pretty good.
  9. Mercer has a good football team and will be a force to be reckoned with down the road. Thier line and linebackers looked awesome and they have some good depth. Lincoln had at least 7 to 8 players on the field throughout the night that played in the JV game on Monday and will play in this Monday's JV game. Not only are they rebuilding they have been decimated by injuries. Edwards could barely walk at the begininning. Hopefully LC fans will not jump ship and the open date will give them time to regroup and get healthy. This team has some potential but has a very slim margin of error.
  10. LCPATS, 6 wins?? Just depends on the scheudule. Even though 6 classes has watered it down a little, I still consider playoff success the ultimate measuring stick. 6 wins could be a great season or not just depending on who was beat or when your season ended. I know it's hard to believe with all the ups and downs over the past decade (just looking at Mr. Networks post of records), but Lincoln has been to the region finals twice in the past 8 years. 1999 and 2007 (winning this year), there are many programs out there who would like to have had that overall success.
  11. All county schools go through periods that of less than stellar talent levels (ask Boyle). The same kids that have won the games the past few years at Lincoln are the same kids that won the middle school football and basketball championships when they where in 8th grade. Those kids are winners and always will be no matter what they doing. LC also enjoyed a great run of athletes in the 90's that also conincided with wins in basketball just like is happening now. Success Breeds Success, but talent sure does help. The great coaches see the talent level that is coming up and schedule (if possible) accordingly. Some of the "more experienced" coaches out there are masters at this. Looks like a good record for Buchanan no matter who they have been playing.
  12. That's not true, 2 varsity assistants teach in the high school..........
  13. Not kicking the FG was not a gutsy call, that was a dumb call. They have a great kicker who is going to make that FG 99% of the time. They tie the game and try to get the ball back and then have a chance to kick a FG for the win. Even if LCA had scored on the play, I still call it a dumb call. It makes no sense to me. The coach is supposed to always put his team in the best postition to WIN the game.
  14. How many starters does Lincoln have coming back.........
  15. Kid from Scott kicked two 40 yd field goals toward the end of the half.
  16. Lincoln has been not surprise anybody close to the program. The juniors and seniors on the team are proven winners. They are an experienced team in an inexperienced district. Those kids are the same athletes that won the middle school championship in both basketball and football when they where 8th graders. This season has actually has made me wonder what happened last season. Biggest surprise games-- South Laurels win over Pulaski SW. Boyle's loss to Pulaski SW. cant figure those out. Biggest disappointment: Dunbar
  17. I watched the game on the local live tv feed and saw the play you mentioned. The penalty was not clipping, it was block in the back and was 10yards down field, long after the ball had left the free blocking zone. A good call. By the way, the ball is out the free blocking zone in shot-gun formation at the snap. This is a rule that most fans and many coaches do not understand.
  18. Puragotory?? Not hardly. Coach French is doing a good job at LC, but as he would be the first to tell you he is benefitting from inheriting a great group of athletes that have excelled all the way up from middle school. These kids won both the middle school football and basketball championships when they where in 8th grade. They are winners both on and off the court.
  19. The score will be a big as LC wants it. Lincoln is loaded with talent this year. 2 GREAT high school backs surrounded by a good supporting cast that has played and had success together since their middle school days. Barring any major injuries, I really don't see another close game for LC until playoff time. The rest of their district is shaping up to be average at best. A 9-1 regular season record is very realistic.
  20. I'm pretty sure 98 & 99 both had games with over 500 yards rushing in blow outs. 98--Napier, Hill in 99---Morgan, Hill being the main backs carrying the load. I'm sure there are more but those 2 seasons stand out. It's really not that unusual in blow outs, especially when there are 2 really talented backs.
  21. A terrific high school football game by 2 very good, well coached teams. Mercer probably has more overall talent but Boyle still plays as hard or harder than anybody and is great fundamentally. I wouldn't be surprised to see both teams go deep in the playoffs if Mercer can develop a threat of a passing game and Boyle do the same with a running game. As a neutral observer, I thought the officials did a good job of keeping a very physical and emotional game under control without throwing a lot of flags. As in most close games, both teams where the beneficiaries of penalties at crucial moments at different times of the game. The best team on Friday, won on Friday. If they played again it could go the other way. A great game for those who got to see it. Unbelievable atmosphere in September. Anybody know what the attendance ended up being??
