Before I did the research, I did not know what the results would be. I was just curious as to the state of the program since Glaser retired and the corresponding years before. Eleven years is a large enough sample size to draw a reasonable conclusion. The results speak for themselves. Offensive points per game are down, even though many (on this forum) criticized Glaser’s offense. Defensive points per game are up. Win percentage is significantly down. Appearances in the 4th and 5th rounds of the playoffs are down as well, but some of that might be a function of the newer playoff bracketing system.

Agree about Frederick Douglas and Bullitt East. But Manual was WAY better then. I just think the overall level of play was way higher in the Glaser era. Plus, winning percentage was way higher.

Coach Anderson did a great job at DeSales. Big shoes to fill. He scheduled tough and made a small school very competitive in the 6th region.

it is ridiculous to act like that at the end of a game regardless of whether the original official's call was correct or not. At minimum, I hope the young head coach gets a "stern talking-to" by the athletic director and the principal. Maybe even a "sternly-worded email."

It has stood the test of time. It is much simpler to just use it than to try to use something else and then try to translate that to other coaches.

The past few seasons, St. X has built their team around perimeter players. To win at the highest level, I believe their team should be built from inside-out. The Tigers need to get back to developing the lines of scrimmage. This, along with their talented perimeter players, should add to their success.

I would assume this will be more and more commonplace with college coaches going to the NFL. The NIL and the transfer portal just makes coaching college football a brutal, never-ending pursuit. As a Kentucky fan, I wish he would have stayed. But, I can't blame him (or any college coach for that matter) for making the jump to the NFL in this current time.

Great write-up, Coach! Character is doing the right thing at the right time for the right reasons. Your end days at MC, as well as Coach Saban's at Alabama, were shining examples of this.

The main reason it is in Lexington is so that the KHSAA officials can have it in their home town. The atmosphere at WKU or similarly-sized stadiums is significantly better. Bottom line - if you are fortunate enough to be playing in the game, you really don't care where it is. I would gladly play the game in the parking lot if I were playing or coaching in a championship game. The debate of venue is just for the rest of us. I have been a spectator or participant at state championship games at Old Cardinal Stadium, the stadium formerly known as Papa Johns, WKU, and UK. In all of them in which I participated, it was awesome to be there. When I was sitting in the stands, I just wanted to be on the field. It didn't matter to me if it was a cow pasture or a Taj Mahal.

If they are less athletic than they wish to be (which I agree that they are), why not adjust the style to utilize the players they have? More under center and power football and less spread.

I love the fact that this playoff game is played on the campus of the schools instead of a mostly empty college venue. I wish student tickets would be prioritized over the general public, though.

Chad Griffin, Hart Co. He is 9-0 at Hart County. Enough said. It is one thing to be a good coach. It is another thing to have success at a place not known for success.

Possible listener question or tough topic: How do you tweak your offense/defense from midseason on, once you realize your team's strengths and weaknesses, to be ready to make a playoff run?

Another thing to consider: St. X moved the ball very well, but was not extremely efficient in the red zone. They ended up having to kick three field goals. With a little more Redzone efficiency on offense, the game probably would not have come down to a blown call by an official. Yes, I agree that the Tiger defense did not play well. But, it takes all three phases to win or lose a ball game. On offense, red zone efficiency could have been better. And in special teams, the squib kick at the end of the game, which resulted in great field position for manual to start their final drive was inexcusable. And, no question, the defense must played better.

Tough topic idea: How do you handle an open week? When do you like to schedule them? How do you handle your weekly schedule within the open week? Thanks for all you guys do for high school football!

Goal line/ short yardage of was a hallmark of the program during the Glaser era. Not so much since then.

Would you rather them run a system like the spread that does not fit the personnel and go 2-8 every year? Good coaches run systems that fit their school and players. The offense that Central Hardin runs fits the profile of the typical players they get. They do a good job with it.
