St. X is a lot like CCH except has nearly triple the enrollment. Hard to say it wouldn't be an upgrade of some type.

Coaching at Saint Xavier would probably be a big pay raise too.

He attended a CCH feeder school I believe. I think his family moved out of the NKY area when he was about to enter high school or early into high school.

The problem with this is the 9th already has four five team districts.

Always seems that the District runner-up always takes Region when these two meet in the finals.

My prediction was close. Had the Colonels by 17 in a game that was close for three quarters. Good finish for Cov Cath and good season for the Cru.

What did CCH shoot in the half? I read a lot of misses and short misses at that. Need to step it up. Any NKY team that plays CCH is going to come out fired up and playing with energy.

Not sure, but I would like to know how many times at least one 35th district team has been in the finals in the past 10 or 15 years. I know a few years ago was a New Cath/Dixie final, but can't think of many outside of that.

I would agree with the bolded IF CCH didn't manhandle Beechwood and Holmes in districts. Cov Cath beat St. Henry by 28 back in December. Obviously, that means nothing now. What is St. Henry's best bet to beat CCH? Should they play a zone and try to slow the Colonels down or should they try to run the floor and beat them to the basket? My opinion, the Crusaders don't have the bodies to beat Cov Cath. They are a good team, I just think CCH is better. But anything can happen. I'll take Cov Cath by 17, in a game that is close for 3 quarters. As for Dixie and Holmes, I would like to see another 35th district rematch. CCH and Holmes have met in the regional finals 4 or 5 times in the past ten years. It would be interesting to see it again. But I'll take the Red Colonels by 5.

Basically it means that certain high school serves as the Catholic High School for multiple parishes, not just one. It has a district of Parishes. New Cath, Brossart, Holy Cross, Cov Cath, Notre Dame, and Saint Henry are all district high schools.

Will Zalla be attending Villa for high school? Sounds like he's a solid talent that many high schools would be glad to have. Not at all saying Villa would be a bad place to stay though.

They lost in the first round of the playoffs.

You said the exact same thing last year when they were in 5A and they lost in the 1st round of the playoffs. Scott is much much better than they were 10 years ago but they still have an uphill battle.

Cov Cath wins its 17th straight regional championship beating out second place Dixie by more than 400 points. Bad news for other local teams, the results in the next couple years will probably be similar to this. Notre Dame wins on the girls side by more than 200 points. Notre Dame has now won 35 of the last 37 regional championships. Extremely impressive by the Pandas.

Also happened in 07 or 08 I believe. They played their first round NIT game in Memorial. The state tournament was going on at Rupp so they couldn't use it. If it weren't for Cov. Cath., New. Cath., and Holmes the upper decks at the BOKC would probably never be used.

I would probably say yes. I'm not going to argue between Wirth and Brossart now, But 09 Wirth was a big upgrade from Brossart 08. It really just seemed that Brossart was not ready at that time. He has come along way and is a much better coach today than we was then. That being said, he has not beaten Cov Cath since he has been at Dixie (assistant and Head Coach). A couple of those loses were blow outs. But the last two seasons, the game has been early in the season.

Even saying they were good might have been a little of an overstatement. The 09' football seniors really got a raw deal in the preceding years. They had 3 head coaches in 4 years. The first one was Rodenberg (sp?). He did not care about that class at all. The previous years 8th graders often began lifting starting in the spring of their 8th grade year. He did not do that for that class. I doubt he even watched their freshman games. Once the season was over he did not put any off season program into place. Then Brossart was next. Brossart was an intense coach but seemed to be a little over his head (I'm not talking about him as a coach not but back in 07 and 08). When Wirth finally took over, a lot of kids were playing way out of position. Close to half the team probably had their positions changed. That is a lot to over come, especially since that grade was short on depth and talent to begin with. Then to learn an entire new offense. You could tell just by watching that Wirth's 09 offense was much more complicated than the previous two years. That class also had a few key injuries in the preseason and very beginning of the season. I think Wirth did a good job with that class. Now, do I think it was a good move to get rid of Wirth? I'll let you know in a couple years.

CCH improves to 20-4 and the winners of 9 straight. Scott falls to 12-10 but are 3-1 in there last four games. Scott falls to something around 3-11 against CCH since 2001. It will be interesting to see who win the 37th district this year.

You're right. Boone County High school has essentially become Florence High School.

Hilvert is an Elder grad and I think I saw something that said his dad is a LaSalle grad.
