Lawnboy13 Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Tale of Two Halves. Cru looked like they were going to shock the Region in the 1st, but the defending State Champs got back on track in the 2nd. Congrats to the Colonels on surviving and advancing. Congrats to the Cru for a great tourney.
KYgentleman25 Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 My prediction was close. Had the Colonels by 17 in a game that was close for three quarters. Good finish for Cov Cath and good season for the Cru.
Clyde Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 I didn't realize Goetz was as good as he is. He's really talented. Really good and fun to watch.
Clyde Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 CCH obviously won the game in the 3rd qtr. I was told they scored on every possession other than one. However, the game sort of turned late 2nd qtr. Cru were up 9 late. Then they were up about 6 (I think) after a CCH bucket and had less than a minute left. It screamed for "one shot" but a kid got excited because he was open and chucked one up. Pretty sure CCH scored again. Momentum completely shifted at that point.
Clyde Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 The fun thing about team sports is to see teams develop. I saw Cru once this year against Conner and they were OK. They really got better as some of the scores indicate. Seemed to have a good vibe about them. Nice pieces. Shout out to Connor Kunstek. Very nice 4 year run. Plays hard the entire time. Nice low post moves as well.
Clyde Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Side note: Each team has a senior that played at the other school. It was good to see both of them get some love from their former schools when they got in late. No heckling. No shots taken at them from their former teammates. Good to see both of them smiling.
Mustang Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 I too believe that the Cru improved late in the season, and the jury is still out with me on the progresss of the Colonels. The Colonels are deeper and have more weapons. They also have Cole Von Handorf who had an incredible game tonight. Early on the Colonels looked to me to be pressing (themselves). Later, when they got the lead they seemed to be relieved to be in front, relaxed, and took care of business. CovCath gets their wish with a Holmes rematch in tomorrow's 9th finals.
Bengal Maniac Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 I saw the second half of this one. after being shocked at the score at half, CCH, lead by CVH, just buried them in the second half. I will say the Crusaders are a gritty group.
ColonelCrazy Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 CovCath gets their wish with a Holmes rematch in tomorrow's 9th finals. This CCH fan wasn't interested in a rematch.
Clyde Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Not sure how many Goetz ended up with. I think he had 16 at half. CCH did a really nice job on him in the 2nd half.
Qryche11 Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Holmes should concern the Colonels. Should be a great final.
Clyde Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Holmes should concern the Colonels. Should be a great final. If CCH gets the Holmes where Beetle doesn't shoot much they'll be happy. He took about 4 shots in the first half and maybe 4 in the 2nd half. Odd.
Just Jim Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Proud of the way St.Henry played. They had a nice run late in the season that carried over into the post season. Goetz was as good as any player on the floor tonight. And as was stated earlier, the tide really turned late in the second quarter. Congrats to CCH on the win. Best wishes to the senior Crusaders. They should have nothing but positive thoughts about the way they played and hopefully set a tone for future teams.
Clyde Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 How many seniors does the Cru lose? I know Kunstek is a senior. Is Green?
