St. Henry 54 Cooper 50 (9th Region Quarterfinals)

Featured Replies

Just Jim called this...

Tough way for Cooper to go out. Led by 9 heading in to the 4th qtr but couldn't hang on.

Goetz led St Henry with 20.

Wallenhorst/Kunstek finished with 10 each.

McNeil led Cooper with 17.

Good finish to an exciting first round. The Crusaders will give the Colonels all they got on Monday. Should be a good game.

Nice win for St.Henry.

Very good team effort.

When Cooper got up by 9 or so late in the game I was starting to think the game was over, but looked like Cooper decided to play not to lose. Crusaders make plays down the stretch. St.Henry gets their 20 win season (first in a long time) and gets to play another day. The Jaguars have a lot to look forward to in the upcoming years and I always feel bad for seniors playing their last game.

Cooper was up 9 at the end of the 3rd but only scored 6 points the entire 4th quarter and I think only 2 of these were during the last 4+ minutes.

Down the stretch... I think they slowed it down, took the air out of the ball, played not to lose, etc...

Lots of credit to St Henry. They did not give up, outscored Cooper 19-6 in the 4th and kept fighting until they got the win.

Agree that St. Henry will give all they have, but CCH wins the game by 15.

I would have thought so before the tourney. I am just not sure of anything right now in the 9th.

St. Henry (20-12): Goetz 6 5 19, Hungler 1 2 4, Green 4 2 10, Wallenhorst 4 2 10, Kenney 0 2 2, Kunstek 4 1 9. Totals 19 14 54.

Cooper (18-9): Hendrix 3 4 10, Kunkel 1 1 4, Liechty 2 1 5, McNeil 6 0 17, Hathorn 3 0 6, Dickerson 2 0 4, Hawkins 2 0 4. Totals 19 6 50.

Halftime, St. Henry 22-21. 3-pointers: STH 2 (Goetz 2). C 6 (McNeil 5, Kunkel).

Green leads St. Henry to region semis

Nice win for the Cru. I think they were better than they were given credit for this year. The 20 wins says a lot. Very happy for coach Faust and company!

Cooper should have won this game by 15+ but congrats to the Cru for fighting back and playing with WAY more emotion than Cooper. This Cooper team this year was very frustrating to watch. They played with zero emotion and almost looked like they didn't care if they won or lost. I know they are high school kids and they bounce back quick but there was no leadership on this team this year. Hopefully McNeil, Hendrix, and Kunkel can grow into leaders for future years because, IMO, the talent was there to win the region this year

I really thought Cooper had a really good chance of winning the region. Congrats to St. Henry on what I would consider an upset.

Cooper has the "look" of a downstate type team. Size, shooters, length, PG.

I agree that they are missing something. McNeil is likely the best shooter in the region. He's automatic. The rest of the players look great but lacked consistency. One nice play here, one layup given at the other end. It has to be said that this was a disappointing loss.

St. Henry just brought it and was calm even down 9. That's all Dave Faust there. He's gonna get the best out of what he is dealt. St. Henry was confident from tip to horn they were going to be in this game.

Congratulations Crusaders.

He actually shoots better from behind the arc than he does from inside the arc.
