I guess reading this I have one question. If the parents were so bad at that game and you happened to be the one picked out of the crowd, how is it a bad ejection? It may not have been the correct person ejected, like you said, but it obviously got bad enough for the umpire to say something. I've been to my share of baseball, softball & basketball games over the years why some parents think they have a right to yell, scream and carry on. If you were tossed for only yelling one thing then I wonder why in the first place were you yelling?

I thought he played with the Royals? Does he play with multiple teams?

I would have to agree with your comments about the Weyer kid. I've seen him play a few times over the years and he has come a long way. There is a lot of upside to this kid and I think we will continue to see good things from him in the future. His move to the Travelers this summer will end up being very good for him developmentally.

Really think Doty has a bright future ahead of him. Kid seems to really have his head on his shoulders and has turned out to be a heck of a pitcher and catcher. Will be fun to see where he goes in the next 3 years.

Is it me or is there site very hard for viewing the schedule individually for a grade or am I missing something?? The only way I can see anything is by selecting the date and then looking at list of what is scheduled.

Correct me if I'm wrong, they either cancel today's game or tomorrow. They are unable to play 4 days in a row which means if they didn't play Friday, played Sat & Sun and then play today, they have to cancel tomorrow. Maybe after a long weekend they needed a rest and they would either play tired today, or a day rested tomorrow. Just my 2 cents.

I would have to disagree with this. I've done my share of disagreeing with this over time but after reading up why the All-A tournament started and talking with students from some of those small schools, I am now a big supporter of the All-A Tournament in any sport. Regardless of what we parents/fans say, this is a state tournament and these players do deserve whatever accolades come to them. Until our state creates divisions for all sports these young student/athletes will receive my praise for winning this, as they should yours. Also, for something that has been going on since 1980 its kind of hard to tell each of these kids your win don't count because I don't agree with it. Two trains of thought here. Is the AAU season about tournament wins or about making the player ready and preparing them for the next level? Most of these boys play kids that are all older during the HS season and, at times, playing their own age group isn't going to push these boys as hoped. I'm not talking about any team in particular because there are times I too wish we could see who is the best at any certain age group but thats for my own interest.

Its funny you say that because we just had this discussion this past weekend that playing this past weekend in Ohio the officials haven't been to bad. Besides being very inconsistent when calling a foul they let tend the boys play which at times you wonder how someone is not going to get hurt.. But if you understand that going in there that very few fouls are going to be called you can go in and play physical not expecting everything to be called. Just hope the boys don't get used to that when when they come back to KY where things are called a lot tighter.

Agree totally... The obvious fouls are not called and in the end someone is going to get hurt. Or like you said a player gets tossed because he is tired of being punched on.

If anyone knows Coach Gray they know he is a tough coach. But it sounds like the kids are really buying into the program and its great to see & hear. I've heard nothing but good things about Ludlow this year. Best of luck to Coach Gray and the Panthers in the weeks to come and in the post season.

Sorry I must call ** on this. This has nothing to do with softball and I think you know that. NCC is a small school, like Beechwood, Brossart or anyone like that and I believe it has to be tough on players, parents, coaches and their teams when decisions like this has to be made. Many sports have become a year around sport and kids are having to dedicate more and more time to that sport if scholarships are in their future. Is it right, I don't think so but unfortunately that is how the trend is going. I wish we were back in the day when kids could play 3 sports and could be very good at all of them. With this past weekend being the one NCAA evaluation weekend for coaches to go out and watch players it has to be tough for a family to decide to pick one sport over another when this one tournament could decide their child's future college decisions. Does it stink for her teammates, yes. Does it stink that a young lady has to decide between an All-A Tournament that means so much to her team and school or to attend a tournament that could help decide her future in college sports, yes. This is unfortunately the way the world is working now and I don't feel we can pass judgement on a young lady or her family for having to make these tough decisions because in the end our opinions on the matter are just that, opinions.

Thanks NAIA schools tend to be smaller (there are nearly 300 member colleges and universities throughout the United States and Canada), with many located in the Midwest. To be eligible for athletic scholarship funding from an NAIA school, students must have two of the following three criteria: have a minimum ACT score of 18 or minimum SAT score of 860, have a minimum 2.0 GPA, or have graduated high school in the top half of your graduating class. Few NAIA schools will offer full ride scholarships to athletes, but partial scholarships are more common. While the NAIA may allow for a generous amount of funding per sport per school, it is up to the school to decide whether to fund scholarships in that particular sport.

I have absolutely no problem when anyone gives the opinion of where a kid might play or what level you think they could play. We all do that and have fun at it. I just don't think its fair when it is stated like fact that this kid can go no higher because... There are plenty of websites that show the top recruits and where they rank and didn't think we had anyone from those list on here that could state what they thought as fact. Some may be older than me but I remember when stirrups changed from the old Astro's type of stirrup to the newer full length ones. They had maybe an inch top that you could hide in your pants leg and could be pulled up to your knee.. Thankfully I was old enough not to live through the whole sock stitched with the stirrup built in. Good memories...

I wonder how many of us are getting caught up in the whole idea of what level a kid will play after high school, be it D1, D2 , D3 or even JUCO. We are very fortunate in this area (NKY) or even looking throughout the whole state, to have student/athletes that have the opportunity to continue their given talent in college all while earning a much more valuable education and possible on some form of scholarship. Be it paid for by their athletic ability or for their grades. The facts that I read. There are 337 D1 universities that have 13 scholarships available to each team to be divided among the their players. Depending on how many current players on scholarship and how many that graduate/transfer there may not be many available to hand out each year. (DI colleges may offer full scholarships) There are 296 D2 universities that have 10 scholarships available to each team to be divided among the their players. Also depending on how many current players on scholarship and how many that graduate/transfer there may not be many available to hand out each year. (D2 colleges may only award funding for tuition, fees, and books) In D3 they are do not offer athletic scholarships to student/athletes directly for their particular sport. Which means either they attend these schools via their academic achievements, financial assistance/grants or on their own. (D3 colleges do not award any funding for athletics) For NJCAA (JUCO) schools I found it interesting that they can awards full and partial scholarships, or grant-in-aid awards, to talented athletes at its 525 member colleges. Eligibility requirements may vary by school. In the end it comes down to these student/athletes getting the opportunity to continue their basketball careers while earning a more valuable education. Very few players have that ability to do something more with basketball after college and unless they have that education to fall back on they will create their own ceiling on what they will be able to do in the professional workforce. So regardless of what level these young men accept scholarships at, I applaud them for continuing their education at a higher level all while playing the game they all love so much.

Both very fun players to watch and both will be an asset to whichever program they end up playing for.
