After I watching the parent from Boone slap the umpire in the back (UNREAL) after the game, I chatted with one of them to find out what was really called. The obstruction wasn't called on the high cleats, the obstruction was called on the fact that the runner slide through the bag making contact. In doing that the obstruction was called and the runner at 1st called out for the double play. Had the runner been called for high cleats he would have been ejected from the game. I need to start coming to more HS games if the entertainment is going be in the stands rather than on the field... :taz:

Let me first say I love the aggressiveness of Bo boxing out. Wish we had more players that played with that fire. My next comment is more of a general comment about AAU. Why is it that when the kids transition from HS ball where touch like fouls were called to AAU where hardly anything seems to be called? Most of the same officials are working in the AAU ranks but it seems like from the player stand point only the strong are going to survive. How do kids adjust from HS to AAU and then back to HS where it seems more touch like fouls are going to be called. Would love to know what others think about this.

For many of teams they had their first tournaments this past weekend, its going to be another exciting AAU season. Lots of good players out there..

Are you missing the KY Travelers? I've heard they are pretty stacked at the 16s also.

No, I believe the Tarheels are coached by Pouncy and the NKY Elite are coached by Ryan Hamm.

Would say you need to add the 15U NKy Elite to the list after a strong tournament win at the Bearcat Classic this past weekend.

I'm sure the coach would have scouted this team many times and know what they can and can not do. I would think you would play them as normal and not show anything new that the other team can use at the next meeting. Just my opinion.

I was just looking at their site and it only showed it as going on this weekend. It doesn't show which teams are playing in it. Based on who I saw there last year I'm guessing they will probably have a big showing for their teams.

Yes that is set for this coming weekend 4/11-4/13). Lots of local NKy talent playing in it at all ages. Bearcat Classic

Would agree here. As much as I wanted to say that I felt her was over rated he kept proving me wrong. He had a very solid Regional and State tournament. Will be exiting to see what he does with his AAU this summer and what he brings back to his HS game.

Very awesome for these students, iI love how it shows how they get everyone involved... I hope schools in the 9th region take this to heart and start working on their own student sections... I look for a very entertaining basketball season next year... Go Colonel Crazies....

I'm guessing then enrollment numbers now play little factor in the end result now that the school with the lowest student count came out on top. Are we seeing a change in our future with these smaller schools??

Pretty strong group of girls and boys. Will be fun to watch regardless who they choose for each team.

Speaking of the 9th Region, I wish more schools had a better student prep sections for their games. The best I've seen by far is CCH, Cooper and NCC. What I love even more is that both CCH and NCC are far smaller schools than most and have bigger prep sections. When is CCH getting a new gym, their prep section takes over half of the bleachers.. Very fun to watch...

I would agree with wxyz, if looks better if he leaves it behind him and moves on. If he makes something of it, all it can do it hurt him, not help.

The sad thing is I wish you could say this is a one time thing for many schools but it happens at a lot of schools throughout the entire state of Kentucky and not just basketball. When is a coach is brought in like Chad and begins to change things for the better the administration seems to not stand behind their coach. Which is probably why the number of coaching changes over the years. Also, I'm not sure if its part of the reasoning here,but I'm tired of administrations listening to parents first about why little Johnny can't do this or can't do this, just back their coaching staff. Far to many schools lose good coaches like Chad, I'm sure another school will see what he had done and would be extremely happy to have him on their coaching staff..

There has been a lot said here and I agree with a lot of it. The one thing I think is true and I have noticed first hand many years ago there were 60+ kids who tried out for Campbell County middle school and they kept only 10 kids on 1 team. What about those kids that were missed, it seams those kids that were cut were marked and it was very unlikely that they would make the teams still while at middle school. They were able to tryout in high school when they got there but unless they continued to work on their skills through either rec or AAU leagues. I feel that the one thing that schools like Brossart and NCC have that Campbell County does not, a larger list of schools to pull those top players from to make that one team when they hit high school. And most every school has multiple teams (A & B) giving every kid that wants the opportunities to continue to work on their skills giving each kid the opportunity to make that team when they become a freshman. I guess my question is, why don't schools like Campbell County have more than one team for grade level? I'm using Campbell County as an example but I'm sure you could look at other public schools in other counties.
