St Henry wins 3rd straight All A
callwhatyousee replied to hoops5's topic in KY Volleyball (High School)
Congrats St. Henry! -
One thing I think gets over looked is that the top varsity coaches get to be where they are because they surround themselves with other good coaches. They know the importance of a good freshman & JV coach. I've followed SK for a few years now because of Coach Atwood and I've noticed she seems to have strong coaches helping her prepare her girls for that next level, Varsity. I agree with a lot of what you're saying but I think for most the footwork is the hard part and people don't know where to start. Another thing that bigger club teams do their players, they play in top tournaments around the country that they know the college coaches are going to be at. Its an amazing thing to have gone to the national AAU tournament the last several years and to see one top coach after another walking from court to court watching players. You generally don't get that exposure with smaller clubs being that they tend to not travel as much or they choose not to. Nothing wrong with it, just my opinion.

Great offer. Very fun kid to watch and I'm sure there will be many more to come. -
This has been debated over and over and I'm sorry if I have to completely disagree. If something was being done illegally then I'm positive there would be parents speaking up. Parents have the right to send their daughters (in this instance) where ever they would like, public or private. If they are going to a school out of their district then they have to pay for that. If they are going to a private school like NDA, NCC, HC and so on, they have to pay for that. Speaking in regards to schools like NDA, they will always field a strong team each and every year. If my kid was in district to go to Boone County as a youngster but I knew volleyball was in her blood, I'm pretty sure she would going to NDA in the end. I know several kids that drive a county over to attend the school of their choice. It's not my call to tell that parent they are doing something wrong if everything they are doing is within the rules. EVEN if their daughter would make my daughters team that much better. I'll step down off my soapbox now..

What Changes Would You Make To AAU?

I"m not seeing coaches push players in one direction or the other. Very few programs have direct HS coach connections, or am i wrong? -

From doing a little searching he may have gone back home. I found this link and thought it was interesting because it has him born in 1995 making him 20 this year. (DIEDA BASKETBALL ACADEMY) -

Class of 2017 ranking-Top 30

I'm not the best with names but I know I didn't see them on this list. I think you've got schools like CCH that have currently and will always have long benches, which is one example I can think of that a kid may not get their opportunity to stand out until their Junior year because they have such a strong varsity roster currently. If that make sense? -
Class of 2017 ranking-Top 30

Someone made this comment earlier on here and I beginning to agree with it. They roughly stated that its hard to place a ranking on a sophomore because most of the players at still developing. I agree there are some clear cut players that stand out on our their own in the 2017 class but I also think there are some sophomores that depending on there team/school may not see real action till the next year as a Junior because of their current roster. There are a few kids from 10th region schools that come to mind when I say this. -

Not having McNeil on these ranking kind of invalidates them for me. Tells me that they are not looking at all kids. -

Only one from NKy... Why no love?? I'll also say CVH's stock drastically goes up after this season. I expect to see big things from this kid.. -

Who did they lose last year? -
The last time I saw them they all looked ready for any battle. They won't have the size and quickness they have had in the past but I look forward to watching the wear teams down. When it's crunch time you always have to watch out for the beetle..
-
While the bulldogs didn't look very strong in their summer tournament I believe their new addition and their "overall team mood/morale" may help them more than expected. When I saw them last they all looked very strong and I believe they will run teams until they can no longer run. Not saying they should be much higher on the list, but could be a team that makes some unexpected noise. It will be interesting to see what Coach Listerman can do with his young stallions and 1 beetle.. I don't think people are giving enough credit to CVH. I agree Nick Ruthsatz will be missed greatly but I have to say that gave Cole an excellent teacher as a freshman to learn from. Cole will never be the flashy/show type of player like Nick but I'm pretty sure by the end if the game opposing coaches are going to be scratching their heads and wondering how the heck he scored 20+ against.

Would agree with lawcats response. I can't see anyone sending their daughter to one school or another because of the AC or no AC.. Same would go for son's playing basketball or any other sport/program that uses the gym. My son told me his buddy told him that NCC's gym was closed last night due to heat. Not sure if that is true or not. Anyone? -
Congrats to Drew and his family. Will be fun to be able to continue to watch him throughout his career. Best of luck..

Girls Youth Softball in Campbell County?
callwhatyousee replied to lawildcat's topic in KY Softball (High School)
Having a daughter who has played in this league and having a little understanding on how its run, I'm positive I wouldn't want to do it. The amount of headaches that Chris and the rest of the directors put up with would throw anyone over the edge. It is always easier to second guess someone when things are done they way you wouldn't have done them, but remember you may be looking at it from what is best for you and your team whereas he and the director must be looking at what is best for all teams and the league. Every years little changes are made to make things better than the year before. Every year you learn what worked and didn't work and make those little changes. Times change and you have to be flexible. I really believe they do a great job in running this league. If there ever comes a day when I don't' agree with something they are doing I'm going to get involved instead of sitting back and second guessing everything they do. -
I love bouncing around the different sports on here to see how all the players/schools are doing and then to come across a well thought provoking post by yourself. There is definitely one consistency in all of your post, you are a die hard CCH person and not a fan of NCC or any of the small schools. That is the wonderful part of BGP, you (anyone) can say what they want without your true identity being revealed. But then again, there is a large group of regular posters who all know each other and are friends outside of BGP. That is the great thing about BGP.

callwhatyousee replied to gold sunrise's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
It's obvious that your not a NCC fan, but have some class and show some respect. I believe that most on here follow just about any and all 9th Region schools and their teams being basketball, football or whatever. It's also obvious that the All-A means something to the schools, coaches and players from these All-A schools. Don't diminish their hard work just because you don't agree with something. I will now step down off my high horse.. -

Congrats on a great year.. -
I believe Gray Middle school have teams at almost every grade and have been very good in years past. I don't think there is a doubt that both public and private schools in Kenton/Boone have well organized leagues to play in. I feel what Bosshog was saying that Campbell County has always fallen behind from the volleyball standpoint because they don't start until 5th grade while almost everyone else starts in 3rd. What grade schools in CC public or private can actually competitive starting that late. The only thing I have noticed is that the girls who have turned into top players in CC are brought up through club volleyball.
