I agree with you, all of that is in the realm of possibility. Starting a bunch of sophomores against a grown man’s schedule is going to prove to be difficult. What that record will be, I have no idea. I expect them to be competitive and make meaningful strides from the previous year. All that being said, the worst BGHS team in two decades (IMO) went 0-4 starting out last season and still made the regional final and played CAL to the very end. If history tells us anything, it’s regional title games aren’t what this program shoots for, but I still think even if they have a lackluster regular season record that Bowling Green will be much more complete as a whole with these games under their belt. I don’t want to dismiss improvements from Barren County or Greenwood, they both have kids who can play and very experienced coaching staffs… but if I’m being truthful with myself, if either of those games are lost there will be way more concerns internally than just talent/competing and the season is ultimately a colossal failure. Lastly, this is as unknown of a year the Purples have walked into in recent memory. I'm excited but cautious about what the year will bring. We will see how this Purple group can establish themselves.

The reason I ask, a large contingency believes this year is the year for Greenwood to get BG. I suppose it’s possible given how young the Purples are are. But the worst BGHS team in the past couple of decades laid it on Barren pretty good last season. Would be a big turnaround but either way I’ll be following the Trojans more closely this season. Always respected Coach Myers and how much he always seems to get out of his players.

That's interesting, considering the Logan result had some posters on here forecasting the Trojans would “handle” Greenwood because of it. Again I ask, how good is Barren supposed to be?

Bowling Green has lost three consecutive Rafferty’s Bowl games. Against good opponents, sure, but starting hot hasn’t been in the Purples make up the last few seasons. I don’t think BGHS will have it easy in any of their out of district games this year, including this one.

Heard it was 14-3 Bowling Green at the half. Don’t know much information beyond that.

This Purple team is uncharacteristically youthful at key positions on both sides of the ball, so I would strongly urge to be cautious predicting them to run it up on anyone.

I consider a 25-30 minute drive for two games still pretty local. They’ll be much better viewing experiences IMO too.

Confirmed: Glasgow will open the season next year with Bowling Green in the Rafferty’s Bowl. Unconfirmed: They are trying to play Boyle as well. Love it.

First, let's get the facts right. They beat a Greenwood team that went 7-3 in the regular season for starters. Secondly, you conveniently leaving off them beating Owensboro (at Rash) the same season they running clocked South Warren in the playoffs and wound up in the semifinals and deeming 2022 the only quality win is hysterical. Lastly, you could insert most these teams I listed for Catholic and they would be the best team on the OOD schedule for Glasgow. I don’t think that’s very controversial either. You did a breakdown for Catholic’s teams. Do me a favor and go do the same for Glasgow. I eagerly await your thoughts.

Catholic will have played all of these teams for their OOD games… BG Owensboro Apollo Greenwood Bardstown Meade County Henderson County North Hardin Union County (they also have Boyle this upcoming year just for the record) Glasgow in the same three years: LaRue Co Allen County Monroe County Franklin Simpson Russellville Clay County Barren County Somerset The approach in scheduling is vastly different between the two schools. @TimeWillTell

Glasgow has rarely "punched up" to equal or better talented teams in their scheduling. Sounds like the new coaching staff is trying to change that. Atherton will be better than most of the non district games Glasgow has played the past several years even if they take a step back. And its not like Glasgow has been a powerhouse in 2A/3A football the past 5 years as they've only been past the second round of the playoffs 1 time with 2 first round exits.

At this point, what is there to gain for Monroe Co to continue playing Glasgow aside from an above the norm gate on game day?

How good is Barren going to be this year? Greenwood will be pretty darn solid defensively so reading this surprised me some.

DF, No love for S. Warren going into next year? Seems like Coach Quarrels has had them trending in the right direction. Can they sustain it?

I hope you are correct, but that would be a big change from historic Glasgow scheduling.

Glasgow will be a good team. Arnett has been a huge upgrade in the coaching department for the Scotties. I don’t mean that as a slight to anyone either. Glasgow football is better because of landing him and the program is becoming more attractive again. I think it will all come down to how their RPI shakes out. If they can avoid CAL in the third round I could see them practicing on Turkey Day this upcoming season. I was OK with the first scheduling cycle that the Scotties went through with their new coach. Going forward after this two year cycle is complete, I’d like to think you will see some of the more traditional games they play be dropped for maybe a step up in competition. That IMO will better prepare them for 3A playoffs past the first round.

As long as Tilghman’s defense is as good as I believe they should be… they’ll be just fine. Coach Thompson has done a quality job making the Tornado program attractive. Kids want to play for PT. I predict at minimum they’ll be playing for a regional final again.
