Coach Arnett and the Scotties are coming into the season off a 11-1 season that included only the seventh undefeated regular season in school history. Unfortunately they were upset in the second round by Union Co. so they are hoping for a deep playoff run this season. They lost 14 seniors off that team but have a lot of good skill players back and a quarterback who moved in from Florida who has several D1 scholarship offers.

Southwestern comes in fresh off their first losing season since 2013. They have a new coach after their previous coach moved on to Warren East. They used two quarterbacks a lot last season and both were jrs. So we will have to see if the new coach uses the same strategy or picks one guy and sticks with him. They also have their top two rushers back from last season as they were both underclassmen.

This game will probably be streamed on the Scottie Channel on YouTube because that’s how they have been doing it the last few years. I will add a link when one becomes available.

Glasgow, and I don't think it's close. Scotties 49-14.

The Glasgow defense was very disappointing in their scrimmage with Logan County. Logan scored touchdowns on five of their six possessions with each teams varsity starters in the game. That has me a little worried. I look for Southwestern to try and drain the clock and dominate the time of possession. I do think Glasgow pulls away late, but I believe this one will be closer than most are thinking.

I seen him throwing and he’s very talented he has a quick release and plenty of arm the ball gets on the receivers fast if they struggled on defense against Logan I would say it would’ve had to be against the run before they should have excellent defensive backs which up front has been where they struggled the last couple years but I thought they would be improved there this year. I would say when the Friday night lights come on they will be locked in and a lot more stingy on defense.

And….. scrimmaging doesn’t allow punt or kick of returns. I wouldn’t be surprised if Glasgow gets one of those a game. There athletes in the open field will be dangerous.

Holley could be a dark horse for Mr. Football. He can throw and run, plus the Glasgow offense will put him in position to put up a lot of points.

He will probably have big numbers because those receivers are fast and talented the only thing that’s going to hurt him stat wise is the schedule is so weak I’m afraid he’s going to be sitting a lot of second halves.

I'm excited to see Holley in action. I hope he's as good as advertised.

I also hope to see some Warrior spirit from Southwestern. Last year was rough. Nine straight years making at least a region final and they fell right off a cliff.

Even if Southwestern puts its best foot forward, I expect Glasgow's athleticism and Holley's arm to win the day.

Glasgow's defense struggled, from what I hear, against Logan Co. last week. Let's see if the Scotties respond after such a big letdown. Curious to see if Coach Herron/ Coach Arnett gets the boys rolling before Friday night on the defensive side of the ball.

On the flip side, Jaylen Bradley and Landen Holley are the real deal. Those two should single-handedly dominate everybody on the Scotties' schedule.
