Coming off a season that saw Glasgow graduate a large and influential senior class, the Scotties enter 2026 with 14 seniors departing, but still carry high expectations for the program moving forward. While experience must be replaced in several key areas, Glasgow returns proven leaders, impact underclassmen, and a schedule that will test and define them.

Jerrick Martin (Missouri State signee)

Trace Smith, Cameron Bulle, Hudson Gumm, Grayson Bartley, Landon Martin, Jeremiah Moore, Steven Garrett, Peyton Lemily, Ashton Page, Xander Contreras, Javion Twyman, Keavian Massey, Jared Malagon

That group leaves behind a strong legacy, particularly on the defensive side of the ball and in leadership within the program.

? Key Returners & Outlook

Offensively, much of Glasgow’s optimism centers around what will be known as “The Triplets” — Jaylan Bradley, Landon Holley, and Jordan Huffman . All three will be seniors and are expected to be major contributors and leaders. Their experience, versatility, and familiarity with the program give the Scotties a strong foundation heading into the season.

The junior class is loaded with upside and could ultimately determine how high the ceiling is in 2026. WR/DB Kaebran Jones and WR/DB Keyshawn Austin are both poised to grow significantly in expanded roles and give Glasgow speed and athleticism on the perimeter. Jaithan Franklin (RB/LB/DL) brings physicality and toughness on both sides of the ball and should see increased responsibility. The silent factor to watch is the experience of the offensive line, with many of the linemen who saw quality playing time last year returning. 

A major addition comes in Junior Bowling Green transfer Kyle Sledge (S/LB), a physical presence who fits Glasgow’s defensive identity well and is expected to make an immediate impact. Looking ahead, sophomore Trevis Collor is another young name to watch as he works his way onto the field and gains valuable varsity experience.

The defense will be the biggest storyline entering the 2026 season. With significant graduation losses, new leaders must emerge quickly, and consistency will be critical early in the year. How fast this unit comes together could be the deciding factor between a good season and a special one.

Despite graduating a large senior class, the 2026 Glasgow Scotties are far from rebuilding. With an experienced senior core, talented juniors ready to step forward, and impact additions in key spots, Glasgow enters the season with high hopes and belief that the standard remains the same. They got ousted in the second round this past year, but are working hard already, coming in every morning before school and getting extra work in. They have plans for a deep playoff run this year coming. Unfortunately only 3 home games will be very detrimental for the season as a whole. They are wishing for some home playoff games.

They also have a strong freshman class coming in now while I know freshman are normally not impact players some freshman are very capable of getting varsity time.

From sources, they believe Glasgow has a chance to be REALLY good this upcoming season. They believe their skill kids are some of the best in the state for a lower classification public school. Excited to see how the Scotties can build on their impressive 2025 season.

If you’re relying on freshman you aren’t very good. Very rarely is that circumstance any different.

I guess the point I was trying to make was the momentum of the program seems to be going up with the current kids they have plus with a strong freshman class coming in they seem like they are getting back to traditional Scottie football.

Glasgow will be a good team. Arnett has been a huge upgrade in the coaching department for the Scotties. I don’t mean that as a slight to anyone either.  Glasgow football is better because of landing him and the program is becoming more attractive again. I think it will all come down to how their RPI shakes out. If they can avoid CAL in the third round I could see them practicing on Turkey Day this upcoming season.

I was OK with the first scheduling cycle that the Scotties went through with their new coach. Going forward after this two year cycle is complete, I’d like to think you will see some of the more traditional games they play be dropped for maybe a step up in competition.  That IMO will better prepare them for 3A playoffs past the first round. 
 

 

The Scotties probably carry the tag of "best program to never win a state championship."  They've had some really strong teams over the years. While they might not shed that moniker this season, things seem to be trending upwards in Glasgow.

They played Allen and Franklin away last year I’m assuming those games will be at home this year counting the bowl game that should make 5 at home and 5 on the road.

Allen will be a home game. Franklin will be on the road. They made the decision to go to Franklin last year because it rained all week and field conditions were horrible. Another reason to have turf.

Yes sorry, Allen will be at home. Franklin being away this past year was Glasgow surrendering home field not trading years. 4 home games 6 away games. 

Glasgow's Schedule was weak last year and I am not sure it gets any stronger this year. Their quality opponents last year were Clay County, TN, Monroe County, and Franklin Simpson. Monroe is destined to be worse with so many graduating and I am not sure how well Southwestern will be any time soon. I would say the scotties will have a good record going into the Postseason again. I would guess anywhere from 8-2 to 10-0 again. Their goals are to get past the second round this year after an early exit from last years playoffs. Their historic games of Allen County and Monroe County may come into question when dealing with RPI opponents in the future. Being in a 6 team district does not help with RPI when the competition is lackluster overall.  I would guess their closest district game this year coming will be LaRue county. 

I can’t really see them dropping Allen and Monroe but at least Allen is 4A. The only one on this schedule that I think could possibly beat them is Franklin. And I agree I think Larue is trending upward and in a couple years may challenge Glasgow for district assuming they stay in the same district however I don’t see it being this year.

Glasgow desperately needs to toughen up the schedule if they want to be a serious contender. I think dropping 2a Monroe and picking up a little more of a marquee game would be a big step in the right direction. Also hopefully the district will lose at least one of the six teams and allow another matchup that gets them ready for postseason.
