Monroe County appears headed for a challenging stretch over the next few seasons and, in my opinion, will likely finish second or third in the district this year.

Many are wondering if Coach Petett should have retired following last season’s team, knowing the rebuilding process that was ahead. The Falcons lost a significant amount of talent and experience, leaving some major questions entering the season.

Reece Bartley returns and was, in my opinion, the team’s best player on both sides of the ball last year. Monroe County will also look to the England kid, who transferred from Glasgow, to take over at quarterback this season.

Another key loss is last year’s offensive coordinator Lincoln Arnett, With that departure, it will be interesting to see if the Falcons return to the more traditional offensive system Coach Petett has  utilized for much of his tenure since taking over for Coach Myers in 2004.

While Monroe County has a few talented pieces to build around, the lack of experience and recent personnel losses make this a difficult season to project. My prediction is a 2-8 or 3-7 regular-season record as the Falcons work through a rebuilding year.

Did Lincoln decide not to coach this year or will he be on Glasgow’s staff with his brother. That England kid has a talented arm he’s just a really small kid who might struggle to stay healthy.

Lincoln has joined the Glasgow staff is a huge pickup for the Scotties. He’ll be missed at Monroe County, but let’s be honest—Glasgow got better and Monroe got thinner.

What’s even better is Glasgow now has multiple coaches on staff who either played for Coach Pettet or coached under him. Lincoln Arnett, Josh Harlan, and others know Monroe County inside and out because they helped build part of what Monroe has been.

Glasgow fans may say it isn’t a rivalry, but for those guys, this one means a little more. In fact, the last time Monroe County was truly on Glasgow’s level, Jackson and Lincoln were the ones under center. That’s how long it’s been.

And let’s not forget—the last time Monroe County actually beat Glasgow was 2015. That’s a decade ago. Some of the players suiting up this fall were still in elementary school the last time the Falcons walked off the field with a win over the Scotties.

With the schools not playing much moving forward, this is the final chapter of an era. Monroe County will have the home sideline, but Glasgow may have a few of the people most responsible for Monroe’s success standing on the opposite side.

So by the way you’re phrasing this you don’t think they will be playing after this season.

At this point, what is there to gain for Monroe Co to continue playing Glasgow aside from an above the norm gate on game day?

This season will be last time the game is played for awhile does neither team any good.

Well that’s probably best for Monroe they need to schedule games they can compete in it will sure be strange not seeing them on Glasgow’s schedule.

I think the Falcons finish at 4-6 with a possibility of 5-5 if they remain healthy. Warren Central, Allen, Metcalfe and Clinton should be for sure wins.

I don’t think the Falcons can pencil in a win over Warren Central. The Dragons have a new head coach in Coach Davidson, and I expect they’ll be much improved from where they’ve been the last few seasons. A coaching change can bring new energy, and I believe Warren Central will be a much tougher opponent than many people expect.

If the Falcons stumble in that matchup, I wouldn’t automatically count Allen County as a win either. Coach Hood knows Coach Petett well, and that familiarity could make for a very competitive game. There simply aren’t many games on this schedule that look like guaranteed victories.

Because of that, I think the Falcons’ ceiling in the regular season is 4–6. If a few close games go the other way, I believe 2–8 is a realistic floor.

Another concern is depth. The way Monroe County plays, they don’t have much room for error. In my opinion, one significant injury to a key player could completely derail the season and leave them staring at a 0–10 record.

If that happens, people will inevitably begin to wonder whether Coach Petett has lost some of the magic that made him so successful during his earlier years at Monroe County. This season feels like a pivotal one—not just for the Falcons’ record, but for the direction of the program moving forward.

I think Metcalfe Co will probably beat them I feel like they will probably get the other home playoff game out of that district.

Metcalfe lost 2 senior lineman that transferred, Metcalfe will be 4th in district at best,

I would say it will be

1) somerset

2) Green Co

3) Monroe Co

4) will be a dog fight between metcalfe and Clinton co.

Huge game to start the year for both the Dragons and Falcons. I’ll be interested in who can pull away with this one, the loser will have a rough time settling in but the winner may get something rolling.

I’m curious where Monroe will go from here, I thought their win last year over Dubois in the playoffs was a good one. Ran into the buzz saw of LCA but it’s part of it, as someone mentioned above Bartley is a great player but I’m curious who will be playing Quarterback and if it is Bartley, will he have any help? Could be a long season if not.
