Warren East and Greenwood travel to Barren County for a neutral site match up. The Gators steamrolled the Raiders in this match up last season by a score of 38-6. There is quite a few new faces with this Gator group, and with their battle against Hopkinsville last week it had to give East some optimism going in to this week that they can compete. We will probably see a heavy dose of Parsley and McCool for WE to try and test the physicality of Greenwood early. The Gators will likely be of the same tune, trying to take the battle straight to the Raiders on the ground. I think Greenwood is probably favored here, but I believe East has potential to pull a mild upset if they can be consistent on offense. What say you?

Heck of a win and heck of a jump for Graves Co. I don't know that I would favor them over O just off the Mayfield win alone but it makes for some really interesting games for 5A D1. Madisonville seems pretty tough too.

Naturally, last Saturday was a painful loss just because I think all of us Purple fans thought we could win the game. Just goes to show, you may not always be as good as you think you are. I still am confident in this group as it pertains to being the best 5A has to offer and hopefully we can reel the guys back in gear for a tough home opener against Owensboro. I look for a full reset here this week for BG. I'm glad the game is at home.

It was clear the game was won and lost at the line of scrimmage. Broncos were a physical bunch and simply better up front and it made all the difference. I’ll still be drinking my Kool Aid the rest of the year! A set back against a top 3 team in the state won’t deter my confidence in this Purple bunch. Good game to Douglass!

I was disappointed that NFHS didn't carry this one like they normally do for OHS home games. Said there was some sort of issue when I tried to stream it. Would have enjoyed to tune in to this one. Like I said in the prediction thread, I expect O to get better as the season goes. CAL is almost always a formidable test.

I watched most of this game last night, and while the score doesn't indicate it, at no point was I concerned that Highlands was going to lose. For the most part, I'd probably attest the score just to first game jitters and breaking in a new team. Lex Cath did do some good things though. I'll be interested to see how the Birds handle next week.
