Christian County makes the venture to the Smurf Turf to take on the Warren East Raiders led by SR QB Dane Parsley.

I'm not too familiar with what County brings to the table this season, so if someone could clue us in as to what we can expect from the Colonels that would be great!

I'd like to think WE takes care of business, but with the unknowns, I can't be sure.

Thoughts, anyone?

Interesting game:

For Christian County, they have dropped like a stone down a well.  I just don't have a clue about any part of their program at the moment that seems to be in a continual transition period (to merge with Hoptown - I guess).  That is created such uncertainty and destabilized the whole program IMO.  They could be decent and I hope they are.  Christian County has had some great teams historically.  They have about 60 players on their roster, but can't open last seasons stats.  For new Coach Ethan Atchley, playing East seems like a good place to start.

For East, don't know that much past Parsley.  Pulling for the Raiders!

Agreed on CC, it's honestly a shame what they have been put through and with the lack of attention they get currently it's hard to have any sort of gauge of what kind of team they have.

As far as the Raiders, they return a nice bit of their skill group from last season. JR Chris Taylor (brother of former BG Hoops star Terry Taylor) will get plenty of touches his way. He likely will get some reps at both RB and WR. They also return their WR2 from last season JR Brayden Lightfoot. Lightfoot is a speed guy who can beat you over the top. I'm hopeful his development in as a wideout leads to a more extensive route tree. Last season, it felt like he was on the receiving end on screen passes and go routes and that is it. Lastly, the Raiders do get the return of SR RB Jackson McCool, McCool is hard nosed runner who likes to navigate between the tackles. He can occasionally stretch it a bit but I wouldn't consider it his strong suit.

The line play will be the big question for WE, IMO. They have athletes that are capable. It will be interesting to see how and if it comes to fruition.

It looks like free video from the Sporting Times:

This is surprising to me, good for whoever made it happen though. It’s been known that Sporting Times takes care of 3/5 schools in Bowling Green (BG, GW, and SW), I don’t believe this will be a full time thing for the Raiders unfortunately.

The more coverage, the better.

Understand, but this follows the money.  Need a Warren East sponsor to step up and help level the load and then East sports will become more of a regular here on the strong streamer of the BG area.

Getting them on some is a good first step!  Good luck Raiders!

Don't want to stray far from the topic at hand, but I can say I know for a fact that money isn't the issue. Warren East has good support and donors.

Sporting Times must have it's own sponsors that dictate coverage because there's no real explanation that would be fitting to me on not having them on. Maybe you have a little more insight than I do on that.  In 2022, WE went undefeated and made it to a regional final and never got the first stream on ST. I remember wondering what kind of justification there could've been for that. I am super happy to see them get on this year and hopefully it leads to more meaningful coverage.

I was told differently; but nonetheless it's a great thing that Warren East has some streaming coverage now.

That's a very good thing.

Not to get too off into the weeds of the financial situation out Louisville road, but I’d have to lean with you P88. Honestly though, if you saw the facilities today you’d be under the impression that they do indeed have some wealthy donors, it wasn’t always a beautiful landscape that could be mistaken for a small college.

I do know there is one individual who loves the Raiders and they may or may not have this bowl game named after them I’ll let you figure that out. He is very well respected and a much appreciated member of the community. As a whole though, this has always been a football team who lacked the proper support to build a good program. Even when things have gone right, very minimal effort from the parents and alumni thus leading to a poor booster club. Takes a village not a lone solider.

From a financial aspect, Warren East has nothing to gain and everything to lose from streaming. I'm unsure what world some programs live in, but streaming reduces ticket sales. As a coach, I'd rather keep the money and put the sponsors on my fence row than lose the money to StreamingService.com and see my sponsors on the streaming feed.

Streaming is wonderful for fans... awful for programs.

It looks like the start times have been flip-flopped for the two games at Warren East. The WE vs. CC will be first at 6:00 and the FS vs  DC game will start afterward around 8:30.
