5A Southwestern vs. 6A North Hardin

Stream: NFHS (allegedly)

Radio: Lake Cumberland Sports (perhaps)

The Trojans and the Warriors meet at Campbellsville High School at 3:00 Saturday in what will likely be one of the hottest games in the Commonwealth this week as the forecast has the temperature at 90 degrees. Despite that, I imagine both teams are more than ready to put the pads on in a game that counts.

North Hardin:

Last season, North Hardin's campaign was marred by a self-reported ineligible player that resulted in a loss heavy season. The Trojans look to put that behind them in 2024. As usual, NH is stocked with speed, strength, and athleticism. The Trojans return a half dozen players selected to the 2023 Hardin County All-Area team. Notably, WR Ronald Lunz who has plenty of D1 offers including one from the Kentucky Wildcats. North Hardin will almost certainly attempt to beat the Warriors to the edge and air the ball out to counter Southwestern's size.

Southwestern:

In 2023, the Warriors' season was cut short when they lost a tight game to Cooper in the region championship. This season, the Warriors look to find themselves in Kroger Field. The Warriors return a lot of talent on both sides of the ball. Along with that, Antajuan Dumphord has found his way to Somerset and will now be wearing dawning the orange helmet. Southwestern has loved to pound the rock the last half-decade. I imagine Saturday will look no different.

Who prevails?

Saturday looks to be a typical clash of styles. Perhaps a bit of old school vs. new school... Which side ends up on top?

Southwestern wins this one but this year may indeed look somewhat different for Foley's boys of SW at least early in the season.  They lost a ton of experience on the O line from last season.  Dumphord brings a ton of athleticism and speed to burn.  I am excited to see what he can do.  He will be hard to defend on the outside should they decide to air the ball out more this season.  Warriors by a touchdown.  This is a 3:00 Saturday kickoff and will be audio broadcast on Lake Cumberland Sports.  Audio link is here https://lakecumberlandsports2.mixlr.com/events/3494975

Man 3:00 pm is going to be blazing hot.
good luck to both team. Get hydrated.

I am already forcing water and that is just to watch this game.

Seriously, I am going to get out and exercise first and it is heating up nice outside.

May be a good reason to play a 3pm game in August but I can't think of one.  Interesting game as NH always has a ton of talent and little discipline.  Never know which team is going to show up.  I like Southwestern but NH has the dudes to put up some numbers.

Are there any adults in the room?

7-0 NH at halftime

SW cannot move the ball.

I do not like it when referees blow a play dead pre-snap because someone doesn’t have their mouthpiece in or knee pads down.

What does the rulebook say on each infraction?
